For the anesthesia courses you’ll need to apply to the masters program and for the prerequisite courses you can take those at any accredited college just call the schools you’re applying to in order to make sure they will accept the credit.

Do you have any tips on how to be a competitive applicant for CAA school for someone in a non-traditional major? Thank you for watching! High GPA, MCAT>GRE, experience in medical/patient care helps but not necessary. Bomb personal statement and bomb interview. The fact that you are nontraditional already sets you apart.

Hi! The AA program is a full time gig. You won’t have the time/ availability to work any other job. Not even at night. You’ll be studying or in the hospital all the time. No class on the weekends but you will be busy on the weekends too so I do not recommend working

Hey you need your bachelors degree and as long as you complete the prerequisite courses that the program asks you for then you can just apply and do the 2 years. After that, CONGRATULATIONS! You’re an AA and an RN .

Undergraduate courses! You’ll take all the graduate courses once you’re in the program.

I’m hispanic am I’m worried about going through some of those bad experiences because I’m not of the same cheerful culture as you said in the video. I’m worried that I’m going to stand out a lot with the majority of the class. I’m a Rn, so when I went to nursing school most of classmates were Hispanic and Asian, so I did not face no racial issues.

Unfortunately, everyone is going to have a terrible preceptor at some point in this process but just know it’s temporary and you can get through it. It is good practice to stand up for yourself and change the system from the inside. It’s okay to stand out, blending in is boring anyway 😌😉 you’ve got this.

No there is not. I think we maybe had a total of 3-4 projects we had to do and they aren’t bad at all. A lot of the information is either given to you or it’s coming from your own experience with a patient like doing a case review and saying f what you learned. At least that’s how it was at Case-Austin

Do you feel like a bachelors in anything else like business would be accepted to go into the program? I’m an A student high gpa and I’m not interested in business at all the medical field is where my heart is 100%. But if I could get this bachelors and then pre reqs and apply it would be a faster route.

Just take the required prerequisites. You don’t need a degree in chemistry or biology.

Do you think this is a job an older person can do? Say they might want to work until 65 or 70. Or is it too much for that?

Yes, as long as you can hear and see lol like you still have your mind. This is a job you can do til you physically can’t if that makes sense. Like I know a woman in her seventies still working. She just works part time and does a lot of colonoscopies/egds. Lighter work load.

Watching this made me realize I’m NOT a good fit for the CAA program. Mostly because I can’t pass physics! I hate physics!! lol There’s no way I can get a 3.8/4.0 in all my pre reqs. Sighhh

Bachelors degree is 4 years unless you do it quicker than that. Masters program is 2 years no shorter than that though

Hi Farren! I am interested in pursuing the CAA route and I loved your video! I do have couple questions for you. 1) I still have to do a few things for my application including getting my shadowing hours, possibly retaking the GRE and writing my personal statement. When do you recommend getting applications turned in? I know a lot of the schools have different deadlines and that a lot have rolling admission, but what timeframe do you recommend? When did you submit your applications? 2) I took the GRE last year and got a 156 Verbal, 153 Quant, and a 4.5 Analytical writing and my GPA is a 3.96. Do you think I should retake my GRE because of my lower quant score? What were your scores and other CAA students' scores if I may ask? 3) What would you focus on writing about in the personal statement? I have about 800 hours of patient care experience having worked and volunteered in Physical therapy as an aide, do you think it would be good to include that on the application and on the personal statement? thank you!

Yes that’s why I be trying tell yall to call the schools first to see if they will accept the credits especially when you’re taking online classes or you take the classes after you’ve already graduated. They be real funny sometimes and I’m sure it’s more strict now that sooo many of yall are applying

So I didn't do great in my undergrad, and its been like 10 years since i graduated. I worked as an Anesthesia tech for 3 years too. I know applications are competitive so I would love to pursue this but it would take me a while for pre-reqs again since I've been out of school for 10+ years and I also get discouraged because its so competitive and I didn't do well in undergrad back in the day. Is it worth it?
