Thanks for the videos. Very helpful. I can’t seem to find your video on why you decided to remove the inner rocker. I’m working on putting in a floor pan and the inner rocker is interfering with the door. I’m guessing this is the reason? I will probably be doing the same. Great work!!! Thanks.
@MAYCOCustomRestorations4 ай бұрын
I did my own inner rockers on that cab because LMCs high hump stamp was bad. The inner rockers were way too high where the outer rocker sits on top of them. Not sure if I just got unlucky but ive heard of others having the same issue with the high hump pan. I would suggest ordering a standard floor and just cutting out the center section, welding on some capture nuts and avoiding that issue. I appreciate the support. Thanks!

Yeah I’m also installing the high hump from LMC. Too late to go a different route I’ll just have to rework the inner rockers. Thanks for your input.

Thank you for sharing your experience in these videos! I have a 67 shortbed c10… I just installed a complete floor pan. The pan went in well to the firewall and lined up with the cab mounts on the frame. I braced everything really good and feel confident my A and B pillars didn’t move! Now I am installing my two new doors and realize the inner rockers are basically too high as the doors both rub when the rockers are mocked up! I believe the aftermarket floor pan is going to have to be modified and dropped at least 1/2 inch! I saw someone else’s video and they mentioned a complete floor pan aftermarket was to high on the inner rockers as well. I hate to cut into the new floor pan but I’m thinking I can just cut out the out the inner rocker and drop it at lease a half inch.., does this sound correct? Or do you have any other suggestions? Thank you in advance
@MAYCOCustomRestorations6 ай бұрын
You probably saw one of my earlier posts or videos. I’ll guess you got a high hump pan from lmc or someone distributing the same mfg pan. I had to cut out the inner rockers and drop them on one of the trucks. You can look at this video of two where I made inners up. I think I mention bits in earlier vids. Both cabs I’ve done videos on are blue so it’s hard to easily distinguish which cab I’m working on in the vids. Check this one out m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/apWZoKukgtulesU

hey guy Im in SASKATOON, contemplating buying a running driving C20, 1968 camper special as you know already, BIGGEST PROBLEM is it has 4.56 reargears and will barely do a 100km/h cuz its screaming at about 4000rpm SO far amigos the biggest wrecker nearby has nothing that will bolt in Got any ideas what will fit and where i can get one with 3.08-3.73 ish gears?
@MAYCOCustomRestorations7 ай бұрын
Assuming your c20 has trailing arms you can get a rear end out of the other C 10/20 trucks with trailing arms and it will bolt right up. C20 I think the lowest gear is still higher than 4. Basically looking for a c10 rear is all. There were also leaf spring models which I would think it would be the same scenario but you may want to confirm on the forum. With the camper special model you might have a little unique leaf setup so get the leafs too just incase.
@WilliamMunny-d8s7 ай бұрын
@@MAYCOCustomRestorations yeah i figured any trailing arm rearend would drop in with minor fabbing but thats the problem finding one within a few hundred miles of me. the owner confirmed 4.11 and 4.56 are ONLY gearsets that fit in this rearend. Im told swapping in a S10 T5 tranny will help alot since they have either .86 or .72 OD ratio. How does that math work ? if i got an OD tranny , would it be just 0.72 X4.56=3.28 ish effective reargear when in overdrive? AND if a T5 solves the problem, bolts right in with a modded length driveshaft, what about a 700R4 od auto , that might bolt in too, with new driveshaft im sure?

@MAYCOCustomRestorations Жыл бұрын
I think I mentioned it on the video, but I swapped out the factory heat equipment with aftermarket heat equipment, which I believe I show that too. You would need the dash module and the passenger seat module to get the heat to work. And you’d also have to wire all that up so rather than do that I just got aftermarket heat kit and put the switch in the bottom of the seat.

You make this look easy. I'm looking forward to doing the same to my 67 C10. Would you replace the inner kick panels, by the driver and passanger feet, before reinstalling the floor at this stage? I have a really rusted cab. I braced the cab smilar to what you show in video 1. I'm not able to suspend the cab so I plan to support it, from the ground, with a triangulated system bolted to the the hinge locations and door striker plate. Also, the metal around the cage bolts.for the door hinges is rusted. It.sounds tricky to repair, but I'm ready to try. Any suggestions for that repair? Thanks.
@MAYCOCustomRestorations Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the support and the comment. I would not replace the inner kick panels before the floor plan. I think i mention it in one of the videos but I believe on one cab I welded the kick panels up before putting the new floor in and it was not going to work out. The stamp of the curve on the kick panels did not match the curve on the upper floor pan, so the pan wouldn't go up into place. If you dont want to build a metal/wood gantry type deal to suspend it from I have seen several guys push the cab on its back to replace the floor. I would expect you would need a lot of help to carefully lift and rotate the cab, otherwise if you roll it on and off the cab corners you are going to totally bend your cab up.

@MAYCOCustomRestorations it will help to keep the gaps sealed for rust prevention what these trucks suck for. It will also help with gluing it together. I like to watch videos but I use to do body work was pretty good but hated it like to paint though. It helps with bonding the inner quarter panels and them gaps your dealing with it works great to fill in those while also bonding it saves some time with having to coax the metal into place as most of these are not that great of quality. Also while your at it get the wax sealer drill a hole in inner rockers use 3m or kbs with stray to seal the inner rockers and outer but allows them to still use the drains use a rubber body plug to close the hole but it allows it to be done every 2-5 years to keep them sealed up. Sorry this long.
