I believe there are few and few modern age female fight scene that are authenticity and relatable. Maybe because Hollywood big movie maker have define the martial arts as a mastery and state for the action movie protagonist nowadays, and everybody want a piece of that pie. But If you are a female woman that start in a horror movie as a support character, mostly you are incompetent and doom to make all the mistake so the female or male lead can look good.... But still we can hope for the best, we still have movie maker like Neil Breen. Example his movie, Twisted Pair. In the fight scene's sequence in between him and his girlfriend. His girlfriend wrestling with him, than both of them fall on the couch, and she pick up a photo frame next to him, and slam on Neil Breen's head with it. Marvellous~ Neil Breen get what the audience want, and he derive it XD Unlike fast and furious 7, Michelle Rodriguez toes to toes with Ronda Rousey and Michelle Rodriguez come out on top.... She fight Freaking Ronda Rousey and she win, Bro? Maybe being a car mechanic in American require a very particular set of skills. Skills she have acquired learn from auto mechanic shop college. skills that make her a nightmare for any MMA Fright XD

Haha at car mechanic skills. They have a lot of building and tool knowledge that can add to how they fight! I've seen reviews of that Twisted Pair movie. Love love LOVE your content, especially your sense of humor, so I was super stoked to see you've done a video on one of my all-time favorite shows. My dad was the one who introduced me to the original Twilight Zone series. We used to watch it together every night after dinner, and a handful of the episodes have lived on in my psyche even though I haven't seen them in almost a decade. "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" is probably my favorite from season 1. It had my 12-year-old self staring into space and coming to the sobering conclusion, "damn. No, I really wouldn't have been any better than those people in that situation." Which is a lot for a 12-year-old to come to terms with, and might explain why I was always so anxious back then, but I digress.

I stumbled on your channel while looking up videos on my latest cinematic obsession (Maleficent) and immediately subscribed. Since then I've enjoyed a few more of your videos - even watching ones on films I haven't even seen and have little interest for, just because I love the fact that you love film so much that it drives you to an uncontrollable need to express your displeasure when it's not done well, and the rapid-fire snark of your delivery. I'm also learning a lot from your analysis, as a late-to-the-game would-be writer myself, as to what flies with an admirably critical audience and what does not. So, hi... The reason I'm commenting on a 2-year-old post is because I happen to be a longtime fan of The Sandman (I cycle through reading the entire run about once a year, and still pick up on new details I'd missed before with every revisit) and I'm curious as to what you thought of season one, and I'm also curious as to why you haven't posted a review,/analysis. I was going to share my thoughts here, but (in a sort of shoe-on-the-other-foot sort of way) I don't want to color your response or spoil anything in case you never got around to watching it. Actually, if you're planning on posting about season one, now might be a good time, as they've been hinting that season two will be popping up soon - there's even a promo introducing the whole Endless family, who will apparently be featured in what sounds like a combination of the Season of Mists and A Game of You arcs, as well as parts of Fables and Reflections (so, basically, what's covered in the second Sandman Audible collection). Love your channel! Pleasant dreams!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! I do plan to review series here in addition to films, but time makes it difficult to get through an entire season of a show quickly enough to keep things fresh in my mind. So my series reviews are a very different format from my film reviews. So the main reason I didn't review it was time. And it's been so long since I've seen it that I'd have to watch it again to be as thorough as I'd want with my thoughts on it, and I don't generally enjoy rewatching things unless it's years later lol All I vaguely remember at this point as someone who never read it but only listened to the audio experience is thinking it was just okay. That it skipped over a lot of things that were impactful in the audio version, so the tone and characters weren't as strong. But I can't even remember the show at this point so take that with a grain of sea salt lol

Borah is a desert dark faery, so they´re kinda more resilent to iron indeed by the resistance to dry and warm climate-environment. Maleficent and the other main guy seems to be temperate-forest dark faeries so they aren´t so resistant. So far it seems were 4 groups of dark faeries: the Desert ones, the Forest ones, the Iced/Snowy Cold Mountain Peak ones and the Jungle Rainforest ones.

On the Latin American Spanish dub, King John actually indeed says "you" instead of "her" when is attacked by his wife while being scared by Maleficent´s threathening sight. However there it´s left kinda more ambiguous as it could meant "you" either to the Queen next to him or was talking about Maleficent, so the dubbing was even more proficient than the original English, unless that actually the King thought that it was something that Maleficent was doing against him instead of his own wife right next behind him.

Something that bothered me on this later film and it was never addresed on is that actually there is even a third castle in ruins on the Moors or nearby to it, where Maleficent went to spend some time after recovering of Stephan´s betrayal and before returning into the Moors to became totally the queen there. It could be actually the lost kingdom which Ingrith mentions she came before marrying King John, and which got doomed by the clash with fairy-folk on the Moors neighors to it. However this lore was never properly connected, and it seems that Maleficent or Diaval didn´t told Aurora about that third castle on their domains.

Queen Ingrith somehow got retrieved the enchanted spindle-wheel from Stephan´s castle some time later after Aurora became the Queen of her father´s kingdom and also merged it with the Moors after Maleficent also named her regent then, but on the dinning scene when everyone is talking there, Ingrith mentions about Stephan´s castle besides the one which happens to be on the Moors and couldn´t be noticed too much because it´s done by organic materials, but then Aurora mentions she didn´t lived there in all, so it was left over for all the people which wanted to live there, either the nobles, the army or the common folk there and to keep their own part there. So as Aurora or Maleficent didn´t cared about what happened on the human kingdom, they didn´t noticed or acknowledged when someone retrieved something from that forsaken castle, and it seems the spindle-wheel wasn´t destroyed when the curse stroke on Aurora, neither someone cared to do something with that thing.

Yeah, I suspect that Snyder didn't bother with the math. Apple's "Foundation" starts season one with Cleon XIII as emperor and ends season 2 with Cleon XVII. Four emperors over a 174 year period. And this is a scheduled succession due to the clone nature of each emperor; that's an average of 43 years per emperor.

@@streamcometrue In my opinion, it's fantastic. But it is VERY slow and very character driven and it can be a bit confusing for the first few episodes since there are a mix of flashbacks and flashforwards. They did real sets, location filming, physical models for their spaceships, great costuming, and the dialogue sounds natural for each character. Each 'side' gets plenty of screen time (and they did something clever here with balancing the number of central characters for each side). It really sucks that it doesn't get enough attention. OH! And Apple had the showrunner/producer map out the entire series _before_ they greenlit it. Meaning no GOT Season 8-type ending hopefully.

That rewrite you described at the end is basically the broad strokes of the first Kingdom Hearts. Like, right down to Night on Bald Mountain being a boss fight and Mickey Mouse showing up at the very end. No joke, the weird Disney JRPG that people had honestly thought was a joke when it was first announced only to become an ongoing series of fantastic games with a mountingly overcomplicated plot that requires you to watch cutscenes from an MMO that no longer exists to understand half the plot as of KHIII, ended up being a better celebration of Disney's legacy over *twenty years ago*, compared with the movie *actually made to celebrate Disney's legacy*.
@streamcometrue

I like the franchise but never owned any of the games, so that's funny they actually did that! That's basically what I was getting at. While that's not how I would've actually rewritten the film, it was an example of one of the million things they could've done that would've honored Disney better than what we got. I'm happy to see from this movie, though, that so many folks appreciate Kingdom Hearts! Thanks for watching!

Ah yes, when kingdom hearts has a more compelling narrative because while DO NOT MESS WITH HRARTS OR DARKNESS YOULL CAUSE THE APOCALYPSE DUMMY may be a bit over the top, and thr magic me mechanics get waaayyy overcomplicated sometimes, it IS a pretty consistent motivation. Villains want to CAUSE the apocalypse, the heros want to PREVENT the apocalypse. Which at least makes the villains...actually villains.

The chalk part likely makes sense depending on the rocks in the cavern. Many rocks will work as chalk. It just needs to be a different hardness and color from the walls themselves. I used to do that with shist that was common in my driveway growing up. The harder quartz with bits of soft mica was easy to use on the slate common to my area. I could also use brown shale to write on grey slate. Both are native to my location. Keep in mind that using rocks as chalk is a way to identify rocks. Also, chalk is a rock, a type of limestone. Limestone caves are common. In my opinion this is a rare sign of cleverness in the script. Not brilliance, but at least better than the rest of the story.
@streamcometrue
@streamcometrue 3 ай бұрын
Definitely! I collected rocks and minerals growing up, probably still have stuff from science club thrown in a box somewhere, and pretty much everyone had decorative limestone we used to draw on driveways and the road with. I can't think of anyone who didn't draw with stones they found out playing. It was more a joke about the pipeline into the room, picturing them all being so prepared, like students asked by the teacher to come and write their names on the board lol But absolutely, having them scrape at the wall with shards versus having what looks like literal manufactured chalk from a box is the minimum I'd expect from the art department for the situation the princesses were in to not feel contrived. I think, one of the interesting theme and ideas the movie and all reviews skip is... what is Asha's _Wish_? Like Asha is what 17? Isn't it her last year she even remembers what her wish is? What is she feeling about it? Is she anxious or is she brave? Is she breaking the mold, attempting to become King's apprentice before her true wish can be taken away? What if she achieves her wish before it's taken away? She is such a non entity in the movie, it's hilarious considering the movie does mention pp that don't feel the same after giving their wish away and Asha must feel all sorts of things about it, and it's never brought up.

@@streamcometrue Cheers! I just think Asha's and Chris conflict is way too personal for people who never met before, too petty, and thematically if Asha has doubts and fears about giving her Wish to Chris, it would have worked better, what if she is looking for a verification or validation about giving away her wish to only find out it's not as bright as she herself sells it to the tourists. All conversations with parents and friends about giving away Wishes would just naturally fit in. If she and the King had a conversation about Wishes, and she would tell him about her fears, and he just becomes offended by it, she can just lash out and say something to him like "my true wish is for people to not give away their wishes" and _when_ it becomes not just altercation between King and angsty teenager, but also a threat to a kingdom and everything King has built so far, it would justify why reaction from both of them is so extreme and emotional, and irrational. Like she really went "I don't like the King, he is such a meanie, let's destroy the government".
