Beautiful. Dikshithar's this mukhari number is special for our family. This song is composed on Lord Rathnagiriswara residing deity of Ayyarmalai near Kulitalai ,Karur Dist, which is kuladeivam for our mother side. Very tough to climb the hill, very tough to sing this kriti also!! Sri Dikshitar has worshipped at this hill top shrine and composed this song there. Smt. Brindha has sung this with great aplomb. An excellent concert by Vid. Vishnudev, with equally excellent accompanists. The choices of kruthis and Ragas, were very refreshing and beautiful too! There is a lot to learn from his Manodharma. However, a humble suggestion to Vid. Vishnudev. Kindly refrain from using Vedic/Upanishadic mantras for RTPs. Though the idea is very unique and may sound beautiful, a Mantra like the one sung here, taken from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, has to be recited in a certain metre, tune and manner to convey the correct meaning of it. Mantras in the Vedas and Upanishads convey different meanings, with different swarasthanas and metres. Hence, to avoid any misconstrued Artha of the lyrics, it would be better to choose Shlokas from the Itihasas/Puranas as a more prudent choice. As mentioned previously, just a humble suggestion. 🙏🏻

T.R.Subramaniam has done a great varnam, but, it does not surprise one that a person of his stature in music , has made the composition... Here one can hear a melodious Presentation of the composition, with Shruthi suddham.

Hi @74srividya, The concept though is universal, the term "Mehfil" has firmly woven itself into the fabric of the Pan-Asian lexicon for over a millennium, embodying timeless cultural exchange. As the concert unfolds you will experience a myriad of carnatic tunes that have origins in far western parts of Asia.
