Yes we cut down trees. Probably much less than needed to be cut down when building the house you live In though.

Great question, we don’t have any trees growing through the actual interior of the treehouse, just the decks. It’s very hard to waterproof them if going through the house so we designed the build around them

Thank you so much, ya we did save a lot doing it ourselves. It costed just under half a million to build but ya probably would have been double or triple to get it contracted out.

We would have loved to build it supported by trees but two things stop you from doing that. 1. If you want to permit it you can’t do so if it’s supported by trees because of uncertainty from tree growth. You’d also have a heck of a time insuring it. 2. If it were smaller and less expensive to build we would have risked tree growth and all that but it was too big and expensive to risk a supporting tree rotting in 10 years and loosing the build. This is how most treehouses are built now and some just a couple feet off the ground (which I don’t think count) so we made it 25 feet off the ground to make sure you feel like you’re in a treehouse.
