awesome video as always but just a heads-up, your voice is really quiet. i have youtube much louder than usual (maxed) and I can still barely hear you over any other sound on my computer :/ other than that though, great video and enjoyable as always - I found you a couple hours ago and have been watching nonstop!

3.27-3.47 has a little audio issue nothing big at all!!!! Also i wanna add that i remeber playing overwatch in 2016 as a 12yo and its just not the same since the introduction and the AGGRESSIVE pushing of microtransactions, and empty promises... I def bought some lootboxes back in the day but with this new 'era' of overwatch (and similar type games) the most MOST i have ever purchased is the little battle pass,,,,,, and mind you this was a one off ;-; sucks to suck but CEOs will do their thang and follow the money~~

Fun fact you can actually blame dodge for this cause they sued ford for using profits to give workers raises and won setting a precedent that a business must bring value to shareholders above all else

"[CEO's] job is to maintain a business and make sure it doesn't die." I don't think this is accurate in practice. The job description might be that but how many times have we seen CEOs leave a company with a golden parachute after gutting the company for value. In practice, a CEO's job is to extract money from the company and stocks. And the stocks side is doing everything they can to make their company look good to investors. Hence why they do things like fire 1/3 of their work force right before they get show off their company before the investors. It's all about making the company look good so the stocks go up. Because as the CEO, they have a large portion of the stocks. And then when things begin to burn, many CEOs just gut the company and jump ship with a golden parachute. As far as I can tell, a lot CEOs don't act in the best interest of the company. They act in the best interest of themselves.

The problem here, and more generally with market activism as a concept, is you’ll never get everyone on board to vote with their dollar or whatever so even if 1,000,000 people decide to protest, theres gonna be 100,000,000 people who either dont know about the protest or dont care. And this is assuming a numbers game, which even then doesnt track with reality because studios pander to whales, not average players. The guy who spent 150,000 dollars to level his toon up in diablo immortal. Thats the guy studios are after. You can outsource the problem to the consumer/players but when dealing with a systemic issue, whether in games or in government, politics or any other space with asymmetric power dynamics, you have to look at the system itself to first identify the problem accurately, and then ideally find a solution. Beyond our (paltry and ineffective) ability to vote with our dollars, studios can and do do whatever they want with their games. If a consumer wants to play that game, they have to take it with all of the cancerous strings attached to it, be it microtransactions, incomplete games etc.. Wanna play a star wars rpg? You got it! But you womp womp vader is a skin for a droid, the game is a buggy mess, the servers crash every 10 minutes but disney owns star wars and disney doesnt care about games or gamers, so if you wanna play a star wars game youll shut up and like it. Ultimately, legislation is needed to force companies into certain parameters with regards to finished products, make it illegal to engage in predatory monetization, better labor protections for workers in the industry, and the list goes on. Companies will not change these behaviors until they are legally forced to, and i know you might be thinking “government bad! Market good”, but you and everyone can be f2p in every game for the rest of your life. One whale off sets all of you, and that whale will always, always exist, so market not good, actually. The industry as a whole is among the worst if not THE worst industries for anticonsumer practices, and until these practices are made illegal, they wont stop, youll still be forced to play shitty games, and nothing will change. Live service, F2p (and subsequently p2w) was a disaster and broke the industry. Make games cost money again, place stringent restrictions on monetization strategies and apply the same legal standards of quality control other industries are require to adhere to. The venture capitalists will filter out, the passionate devs and studios will stay and theyll be able to make actually good games without the pressures from conservative suits who only care about maximum, short term profit. Gaming was fine before these parasites came in to the picture, itll be fine after. How do i know? The only good games left are made by smaller or independent studios. Those are the torch bearers for tomorrows games, not reforming AAA studios who’s souls left their bodies the moment they were able to replace them with millions of dollars for a horse skin

Every product and serivice that ive seen taken over by venture capital investors, has resulted in that product becoming far worse quality, far more expensive and involve gambling or malicious pyschology in their product. The ability to invest in a company is great, but sometimes i really do wish these companies would stay private, and choose CEO's successors with a creative vision based on an understanding of the product, rather than an understanding of consumer pyschology and a minimum exceptable quality philosophy.

I will strait forward like a spear to the heart and i will give the solution To let this AAA company hurt and not buying there in game stuff is not possible people come see and buy and go its social engineering and in depth psychology understanding how people react And its slowly rotting the milk that they keep extracting from dead cow THE SOLUTION! is to learn more about programming and game desine and try to create your own game or create it with a team and giving more support to open source codes and program Some are bad apple indie games.... The point is we or the one's who read this if you are tired of it all you know the sentence they say "Fine i will do it my self" Create a game learn from the progress and maby you or me will become the next New AAA that will take away there money and people and this is how you kill the undead titan just simply learning from there mistakes and becoming aware self titan i know it all sounds simple or stupid BUT people are amazing and sharing knowlege with each other and helping if you just look deep enough that in 5 years or 3 you will be different

My tinfoil hat theory is that the entertainment industry hijacked the game industry and did nothing but insert unnecessary bloat to development studios. Just for the intention of generating money. I cannot imagine these massive development teams being justified.

“Not buying it and not giving it attention is the best thing you can do”. Not really? Vote with your wallets has never really changed anything in its own, because people still buy it. Steve the electrician just wants to play some call of duty when he gets home, he doesn’t care too much about how it’s monetized. What helps is generating a big shitstorm that makes people like Steve aware of the problem and angry. Every time something changes for the better when consumer rights or quality of life are involved, it’s because lots of people are very angry very loudly. Quietly not buying something never fixed anything.

Not buying it is the best thing "you" can do to save your money. You agreed that it doesn't matter if we buy it or not but regardless of what we do all of these corporate entities will still continue to cut corners, lie, and prioritize profit over quality and I'm not saying let it slide when they do shady things like that, but when they do simply don't buy there product.
