i always thought that place was the Rover factory ? hence rover way ? I know the large buildings Nr rumney were where they sorted the cargo off the ships during the war as my grandmother was stationed there. I think only one is still standing.

Could have been a good documentary but the unnecessary background music made it difficult to hear the interesting commentary. I regularly went there in its all capacities (pub, disco, carvery,..) since the early 1970s.

My Mum was born in Mercia road, which backed onto the aerodrome 2 months before the outbreak of ww2. My gran told me a story of how a couple came around and offered to take pictures of the children, my gran was suspicious as they seemed to be trying to take the pictures with the aerodrome in the background. She walked to her parents grocery store in Broadway and used their phone to alert authorities. They came and took this couple away.

Hi Steve, my nan (dad’s mum) lived on Mercia road. Her house backed onto what was then the red hockey pitch of willows high. Mums family lived a street over. They both told a story when a German pilot got lost in fog, low on fuel he decided to land at Pengam. He got out surrounded by kids throwing sweets until home guard arrived and took him away. In a twist when my parents got married they bought their first house which is on Broadway. Dads passed some time ago but mum still lives there. What shop belonged to your parents?

WE stopped watching this after 2 minutes. The voice was smothered by the music. I was hoping the plinkyplonk music at the start would die out, but it didn't, it just got sadder and louder, drowning everything in mournful musical goo. We live not far away. It's shut now.

Thank you so much for your comment. I have to completely agree with you and appreciate you pointing out the sound issues. At the time I was new to the KZbin thing and as a result I didn’t make many more videos with the equipment I had because of its poor quality. One day when I post another video It’ll hopefully be alot easier for ones to hear.

It would be the greatest stupidity of all to release wolves in the UK. In Germany the spread has been allowed - a serious mistake, a lot of cattle and pets are killed. The number of wolves increases every year, allmost 2000 now. The species is not threatened with extinction.

Wonderful stuff again Phil. Loved your documentary style intro to this one. So so interesting. What a story!! Ha Edward Edwards - I would imagine that the Customs men wouldn’t forget that name in a hurry. It’s amazing what history can tell us if we just take some time and do some research. Brilliant digging into history mate and well told using narrative, photos, film and drone. The drone footage really gives a great perspective of where the Penarth Head Inn was situated and how crucial a location it was to be able to avoid the Customs men. Brilliant stuff again mate
