What is the difference between routing instance and logical system?
@SkillNuggets

Routing instances primarily separate routing tables and paths within the network, while logical systems offer full device virtualization, including separate management, interfaces, routing instances, and security policies

I cannot ping my gateways from host PCs and vice versa. I can ping my gateways between the routing instance (i.e. -CE3 can ping R12 gateway and vice versa). What might I be missing? I wonder if I am configuring my ge-0/0/x interfaces in the correct instance. I connect ge-0/0/1 to ge-0/0/4 to my vMX-VFP and configured ge-0/0/1 in instance R12 and ge-0/0/3 in instance CE3 but cannot ping the for either of them for the LAN PCs and cannot ping the PC LANs from my instances.

Hi there, I am having a slight problem with Eve-ng and the vQFXRE and PFE images which maybe you recognize and can help. My Eve-ng lab is up and running with the vQFX RE and PFE images and everything looks ok. However the Interfaces are displaying different labels depending on the type of command/show command I enter. When I connect the devices it shows the xe-// Ports. I can also configure the xe-// Ports. But when I do a show interfaces terse, the CLI displays the "em" Ports 0 - 14, not the xe-// Ports. If I do a show interface xe-0/0/0 etc it displays "device not found". Do you recognise this? Maybe I did something wrong somewhere - i've no idea. Thanks for any advice

Hi Dickie, have really enjoyed your JNCIA course, and am just about to start your JNCIS-SP course ... just wondering when you will be launching your JNCIP-SP course on Udemy? -- as I will probably immediately begin studying for the JNCIP as soon as I complete the JNCIS

Many thanks for sharing. Can you advise what are the drawbacks of using an SRX image instead of say an MX or EX image for routing and switching respectively? For example, is it the case that there will some functionality on both the MX and EX images that the SRX won't be able to replicate? Also can you explain why you didn't need to set the forwarding mode to packet-based for inet (ie. ipv4) ?

Thank you for this awesome tutorial. Its been a while since I have used GNS3 and back then you had to create an Olive if you wanted to use Juniper so this is fantastic !! My question is with this setup are you still able to bridge interfaces to the outside world similar how you can with IOS

Hello, I have two hosts connected to the same vQFX and they are not able to ping eachother despite being on the same subnet, and the interface mode is access with default vlan 😞

Thank you for the video. Is there no scenario where you can run just the vMX with both the CP and FP for a single device?

Hi doug, there is an older vMX image floating about the juniper olive running junos 14. that is in a single device. It supports logical systems and many other proprcols but its old and a lot will not run on it
