How meta is the deck tho? Czu with teh top deck being Moltress Charizard, and the most common budget deck being Blaine that can hit for 120 a shot without adding weakness, I dont really see this being all that powerful of a Meta deck

I hope the mini-set gives some more love to Darkness and Metal. Dragonite is holding down the fort for Dragon, but what are you supposed to do if you want to run a Metal deck? I guess Melmetal? I've never seen anyone even try. And Darkness is conspicuous in missing an EX to serve as a finisher; I want a better Arbok deck! And speaking as someone who spotted the Mewtwo EX + Gardevoir combo on my own and got to feel clever before looking it up… they need to nerf Mewtwo EX. Make Psystrike lose 3 energy or something. I've been running the deck since I started playing, and I basically only lose to lousy draws and to other Mewtwo EX decks. It even beats Pikachu EX and Starmie EX like 9 times in 10.

Don't think this will become meta. There's not enough consistency with the pidgeot evolution. You in an ideal scenario have to be the second to go and have all the correct pokemon pulled or you're just stuck doing 10-20 damage or otherwise left with a 70-100 health arbok. The reason most decks are meta is because they have crazy good damage mixed with decently consistent draws, which this deck has neither of unfortunately. I can't tell you how many times I get stuck because arbok waits until the 3rd or 4th round to show up, or by round 7 pidgeotto just hasn't even appeared yet. Most decks with two evolution stages can get away with it by having good EXs off the draw like mewtwo or zapdos who can hold out until the other needed cards are drawn.

I totally see what you're saying about it's position in the meta, but i do think it has a very high ceiling with practice. I have been using this deck with meowth, persian, and farfetch'd (because i don't have a pisgeot yet🥲) and i still have had good matchups. It's a very fundamentals based deck that takes advantage of trapping your opponents into situations that they are not set up for while also having a high degree of flexibility. Running arbok+pidgeot with two of the following makes it so that you can force your opponents out while spreading damage across your team: sabrina, x speed, pokeball, professor's research, giovanni. X speeds allow arbok to switch out for only one energy and pidgeot already has only one retreat cost. This means you can x speed your arboks after you ko them if you don't like their active pokemon and drive it off with pidgeot to deal 70 damage. If you have a solid understanding of positioning and practice with the deck, you can really invalidate a lot of teams. I totally agree that's its not going to be a top 5 deck or anything, but it really can compete with some of the best decks

It’s pokemon so I ain’t gonna be offended but they’re clearly inspired by the Spartans. Spartans are known for the Phalanx formation. Falinks is a play on the work and they are literally shaped like a spartan helm and their arms look like the shields they used. With a spear in their head. It’s a very creative way to make a pokemon.
