Every problem that would drive me crazy you are able to make it through with ease, it never dawned on me to have two Sorcerers and make one a cleric and one a thief. Is there a trick to running this game on a new pc/operating system? DOSBOX or something, you have made me want to play it again. I think I still have the old CD, how did you obtain a copy? Thank you again for playing this all the way through, I never had the patience to get through it. Of course, sleep spell and the cleric power to disable them. Watching this is incredibly fun. Glad you appreciate the footage. Download the ISO version from www.myabandonware.com/game/pool-of-radiance-ruins-of-myth-drannor-bb3 Then download and install the patches in order which can be downloaded from: sorcerers.net/Games/PoR2/index_misc.php The game runs fine on modern hardware (for me anyway) just be sure not to reload saves too often or it may crash. Also if you can't attack enemies any longer you need to uninstall and reinstall, you can maintain your saves but you just need to reinstall. Also don't save the game near giant splashing effects like in the final area of the game or in a specific part of the catacombs.

First! Anyway thanks for the nostalgia. I used to play this as a kid but never actually finished the game. I recall I gave up at some point well into the catacombs i think where there was a bug apparently that made a construct, probably a golem invincible. Coincidently I made a half orc barbarian with almost exactly the same stats as Gruk. I gave him all the strength increases i could and I recall he had at least 28 strength without modifiers like bulls strength and equipment. He was obviously good at carrying stuff and was always lightly encumbered. Then there was an amulet which weighed a lot but increased strength in addition to bulls strength so he was very strong indeed. I also learned about a bug where if you have something that modifies your constitution when you level up, it increases your hp by an amount as if your constitution was unmodified which means increasing your constitution will effectively decrease your hp as you level. There was an amulet that reduced constitution by 4 which i tried to get each party member to wear before leveling up. I also save scummed when leveling didn't increase hp as much as i wanted.

I love dungeon crawlers, so interest to see modern games with an old style. Also, the giant ants make me think It Came from the Desert was an inspiration. :)

I agree with a lot of what you said. Most people's arguments for the game being good are pretty much applicable to every game ever made. Most people who say it's good say it's because you can pretend to be a certain type of character, and role play. This literally applies to any RPG ever made. I can pretend to just be a merchant in a game such as Skyrim, or Fallout, but that doesn't really mean the game reacts to that in a meaningful way, or has good mechanics for doing so. Same with any other play style. Also, people saying the game is hard and brutal are generally people who just play without thinking. Trying to play this game without cheesing mechanics is nearly impossible as well. Want to be a thief? Well, you broke the game by default. Want to be an assassin, welp you did the exact same thing. Also the dev said these mechanics are working exactly as they intended them to. Wanna be a scavenger? Welp you broke the game because its so easy to become rich insanely fast by just picking up stuff on the ground because the economy is broken, and incredibly imbalanced. Wanna do a combat build? Guess what you broke the game because just by throwing your self into hordes of enemies you will become extremely OP very fast because of terrible combat xp mechanics. Wanna just explore the game? Well congrats you broke the game again because after a day or 2 of running around your character somehow becomes the fastest character there ever was, and almost nothing can catch you, so almost all the threat is gone. Want to be a humble miner, or farmer? Well congrats you broke the game again because of the busted economy. Wanna play as a Skeleton? Well you broke the game by default because Skeletons are terribly OP and broken. I can go on and on. The only way to play this game and have a struggle is to basically role-playing being really stupid, and putting a bunch of parameters on your character that don't allow them to interact with like 85% of the games mechanics. I had fun with the game too, but it's entirely overrated, and doesn't encourage gameplay with an interactive, or interesting world. The finished game still feels like an Alpha to early beta, and the dev gave up because they knew the engine was terrible, and gave up and said it was complete. I can't imagine Kenshi 2 is gonna be runnable at all unless on the highest spec computers when it is released. With extremely high detailed graphics, and a world that gigantic I don't see any way most computers are gonna be able to run it without it running slow either, so I don't have my hopes up.
@lunova6165Ай бұрын
Also I'd like to mention that this game is carpal tunnel simulator. With an extremely zoomed out map, tiny icons require multiple clicks, hold down clicks into drop down menus, very very very bad UI. You will be destroying your wrists trying to play this game. I really think games need to start considering carpal tunnel, and the health impacts of their games on people's wrists more.
@karlgoldberg9268Ай бұрын
@@lunova6165 Very true statements indeed. Yeah people really value what a game enables over what a game meaningfully reacts to. Yes you can do X in video game Y but if the world doesn't react in any way how can this game be praised for its reactivity?
