If it cut an oval when it pulled up it can cut your hand. Long sleeves, Jewelry, no safety glasses, not securing the workpiece are all safety violations. Never use this video to train students!

Oof (a) use a push stick even for your wider piece, your hand is WAY WAY WAY too close for beginners (b) Don't lean over a spinning blade to grab the piece under ANY circumstances. ALWAYS wait for the blade to FULLY stop before reaching over to grab any pieces. At 11:40 you were leaning over a spinning blade and 11:42 you grabbed a piece while the blade was still moving.

You seem to be a good teacher, but No way you'll get my hands that close. Push sticks all the way.

Bandsaws are relatively safe to use. Definitely safer than a machine with a circular blade. Of course everything is a little more dangerous when it comes to kids and saws but it just requires teaching proper technique and set up. BTW, don't be afraid blades will break for no reason and "get you." They don't. I've used 14" but mostly larger 36" bandsaws for decades and know they're not accident proof but for the most part safe and easy to use. And never trust a shop teacher with missing fingers.

I have made thousands of door parts cover that cutter up you would have to stick fingers under the guard on my machine. one slip of the hand and you know the rest or you should , just FYI your setting your self up for disaster especially with in- experienced operator you might want to rethink this video.

any chance to get a copy of your answer sheet for what was wrong? I'd love to use this video as part of a class where individuals have to identify what's wrong.

I'm guessing you use this as a teaching tool and have kids identify what is wrong. Will you list the items wrong?

*Bought as a gift for my son and his second grade son to use on a Pinewood Derby car. Wanted something relatively safe and able to be packed away when not in use. Worked well. **MyBest.Tools** Easy to use and set up. Case provides good storage.*

What the fuckkkkkkkk why are you touching the bit while its moving? So what that yours didn't hurt! Free handing every cut??? And when it climbed you free handed it back down!??? AND YOU'RE WEARING SLEEVES THE WHOLE TIME? This video is criminally negligent. You ignored countless manufacture safety warnings and general common sense. Where tf is my dislike count.

Four inch board is WAY too small to cut, use longer board and create the piece you need. I am a 30 year woods teacher, otherwise good info

Ok when cutting wider timber shouldn't you pull the saw back plunge down, lift the saw up, slide it in and plunge down again - cutting the board in a series of down/ up cuts? Pulling the saw back plunging down and then sliding it in can cause kickback or board suck up.
