This version, and the way he is does it, it's much more remorseful. I like the Jerry Jeff's version, it's not remorseful at all. It's edgy and full of righteous indignation for the circumstances and the wanting to leave them behind.

It's a Vm7 chord. So if you play the song in E it would be a Bm7
