Save yourself time and hassle go with GRX 400 2x10 with 11 36 cassette. Chainring 46 30. Robust simple affordable. 500% range. A little heavier but more efficient with a clean chain line. I had 1x11 but mostly ran 1x9 due to rear derailleur issues.

Hi, I bought a grx garbaruk derailleur a while back. I run a 44t 11/42 cassette. I have found that the chain rubs on the cage in the 42. I have the oversized pullys, just wondering if a garbaruk chainring was needed, is there an offset ? Ive gone back to the grx cage, i cant get an answer from garbaruk.

Hi, I just installed the Garbaruk cage on my 812. What distance between upper pulley and largest cog did you end up with? Did you follow the standard GRX setup instructions for the B-screw adjustment where you adjust it as close as possible without rubbing or did you settle with a specific distance like 5mm? Thanks in advance.

I'm looking at buying either through Carbonda or going the ICAN X Gravel route, since they have USA stock. Also, you look to be somewhat tall. Thoughts on sizing? I have not tried the e13 cassette, though I had one on an MTB 5-6 years ago and it was great. I really like the 696. It's a fantastic frame, though I'm, not too excited about supporting the commies. But that's the world we live in. I bought it straight from Carbonda and received it in January 2020. I'm 6'1" and ride the 580, which fits well. The only thing I would change is a longer head tube, I have like 75 mm of spacers.

The real problem here is that the Shimano XT 11-46 cassette is just the same gear spread as the 11-42, with the 42T cog replaced by a 46. This means in order for the derailleur to clear the 46T cog, the upper pulley has to be farther away from all of the other cogs, making the shifts slower and less precise. Indeed, the GRX 812 derailleur clears the 46 fine, but the geometry of movement is not suited for the 11-46 cassette due to the aforementioned problems. Shimano should have made a dedicated 11-46 cassette, with adjusted cog gear numbers across the entire cassette, which would improve the shifting with any derailleur. A better option, and much lighter, is the Garbaruk 11-46 cassette (or 11-50 with Garbaruk long cage) with the standard GRX 812 derailleur. Hopefully Shimano offers better 1x GRX gearing options when they release 12 speed GRX, as they are really behind SRAM in 1x gearing choices for gravel.
