I'm gonna guess you mean Astarion, he is wearing the Bhaalist mod set. On Body 2 it has skulls and spikes. On all other bodies it looks like the normal leather that Karlach is wearing - as it's the same outfit just dyed differently. The whole set comes with boots, gloves, hood, and cape. It is a level 16 and light armor but also has a great ability that within 2 m of you they are hit with a passive debuff that slowly drains the HP of enemies. I hate how it looks on Body 2 though.

We can be stronger than him without that issue, but he's able to romance and manipulate us. I think it's more that she could easily take him out but she also isn't someone he could manipulate with his body into protecting him, so he's afraid of her. He doesn't really have any cannon moments to imply his envy is of physical strength, all his envy is geared toward power and control. Whereas, there is a lot of cannon moments in his story, especially his romance storyline, that outright state he slept with Tav/Durge at first so he could manipulate their feels and get them to protect him. Karlach can't be touched, so he couldn't do that, and as he says in his confession scene, he doesn't know any other way of being around people than to manipulate them with his body.

I can understand her POV though. I don't think Gale had ill intent, he just kinda put his foot in his mouth. She lost so much and she's seeing some similar sparks in Gale's desires. Anyone with too much power can become evil, absolute power corrupts absolutely. I'm not against people being powerful or seeking to better their abilities, cleary as I'm an Astarion stan and he's very power hungry. But I still understand her concern and her sorrows and her fears. Back in his youth in Suldanessellar, Joneleth didn't start out evil. But as he become a more and more priased and powerful Mage, his hubris consumed him. He spiraled into selfish and evil obsessions with power. She sees Gale having a hubris problem, thinking he knew better than Mystra and causing the orb. She sees how self destructive he has become in the wake of the orb. Gale is far from Jon, he is only annoying as the god of ambition, not evil, so her fears aren't going to pan out. But still, they're rational.

@kiterafrey Gale doesn't really have a hubris problem. He has a very rare opportunity, not causing harm in itself, to anything but Mystra's ego really. It is bothering her that her discarded mortal toy is largely over her. She doesn't have a great track record with mortals, after all. Any intelligent creature has some measure of capacity for evil actions. True power reveals a person's nature, most of the time. Not sure about the corrupting part. Those with more limited power seem to hide their intent more, not necessarily have more benign intent. Jon worked many disciplines of magic, he didn't start out evil, hard to say if his practices contributed more to it, or his sister's influence. Bodhi was described as more inclined towards wickedness than he was, when they were mortal elves, despite being a lot less powerful than her brother.

@JMOlsen_ I definitely don't see Gale as evil nor do I think his ambition is wrong. His attitude in the epilog is another topic, but that's not evil. His hubris, which even he realized he had, was in thinking he knew better than Mystra when it came to the tome with the, what he didn't know was Netherese, weave that he wished to restore to Mystra. It was him thinking he knew the situation best and acted against guidance of someone with more information. He realized it was a mistake. As I said, Jaheria's fears aren't going to come to pass, but I see how she sees similarities and that worries her but also pulls at her traumatic memories. Personally, I hate Mystra. I see her as a groomer. Not in the way most people see that word, but in more the legal definition. (Which as a legal editor, day job, I tend to think is legal terms.) She has a position of power, influence, & maturity over Gale and used that to slowly manipulate him into a postion in which she had full romantic & smexual control over him. I see her as the same as Cazador. I think Jaheria is simply worried & traumatized and she's speaking from that place. It's been a while, but I do believe Bhodi was a big influence on Jon. The statement Absolute power corrupts absolutely is a quote, but yes its more that power gives us the ability to show our true selves. But historically speaking, those with the most power and money typically achieved that by being less than good in their actions. Its a quote akin to "There are no ethical billionaires," both are implying only those who achieve absolute control are the types who'd do anything, and usually did, to achieve that goal.

@kiterafrey Acting against someone with way more information is definitely risky, but in my mind not necessarily hubris, since the person with the more information doesn't necessarily have the best intention, just the advantage of more information. Mystra definitely fits more than one description of grooming. Even excluding modern laws on this topic. She is a contributing reason why I make my arcane spellcasters (in pen and paper d&d) Shadow Weave users. I can live without light spells just fine, and Shar is the less unsavory of the two goddesses.

There are two ways. 1. It randomly picks who reacts to her line 2. You enter Gek's ship with only Astarion in party.

@mimi8808 It just depends on your dialog path. I honestly don't remember which path I choose, the talking to Thrin, Aggressive, or Being a True Soul but all 3 have different reactions and who reacts is random unless they're the only one in party.

Sadly no, this run I was only able to romance Wyll because he requires no camp scenes before Act 2 to romance.

He doesn't sugarcoat anything, unless he wants to manipulate and get something that is. I can feel & appreciate that. But, I don't think Karlach can handle that process, she's pure sunshine.

@@kiterafrey Blunt unless he wants to manipulate. That sentence fits my good self every bit as much as it fits Astarion. Karlach has a perception of reality like someone a fair bit younger than her 30 years. Perhaps not unexpected given ten years in an environment her mind was trying to lock out as much as possible.
