My maternal grandmother, my Mom, my Dad all died of Alzheimer's disease. My 3-years-older brother died of FTD just under a year ago. l stumbled upon 'Harvie Crumpet' last night and was so blown away l watched it again, immediately. Watching 'HC' you can go from hilarity to horror to maudlin sentimentality in, like, 30 seconds. My attention span has shortened, mostly because of my Web addiction, so l can appreciate an accelerated pace. And whilst traversing the masterpiece that Harvie Crumpet is, l noticed the dementia theme. A short time ago l watched 'Uncle'. Adam's first feature. Same theme. l write songs, and the last one [that l can remember] involving mental disintegration was a simple, repetitive call-and-response song called "Probably Not, Prolly Forgot". Some part of me still holds out hope that my song will be a lucrative memory-care-unit hit! // l think l expected Adam to look like super different than how he looks. Think R. Crumb/Charles Bukowski/Elle McPherson? BUT it would be super simple to make Mr. Elliot's skull out of 1) clay 2) popcorn 3) seaweed 4) a balloon. Love ya, Adam, gonna cue up the Mary and Whatever next! RS

I was sent to Turana in 66 after being made ward of the state, first to remand then transfered to Billabong then transfered to Tally ho on Burwood hwy that was surrounded by apple orchids, absconding many times that landed me back in Turana at poplar house then after about 12 months they moved me to red gables where during the week they would transport us to Buxton to help build the boys home there. Spent some time at Ashendene in Olinda as well...long time ago. I turned my life around in my late teens,. I now live in Alabama in the US. I married an Alabama girl and have 5 wonderful children. I also have a successful maintenance business but sometimes my past rears it's ugly head and my wife says to me from time to time " everyone's not trying to take advantage of you" I suppose you never lose the trust issues that were prominent in those days but getting better. I try to think of the good times back then but they were few but I feel lucky that things turned around for me and that I didn’t go on to pentrige like a lot of the kids I knew back then. There was a lot of hate back then. [email protected] 😊

The cerebral-palsy artstyle, the self-deprecating morbid humor, the gentle and sad narration, the bleak and un-buttered depiction of death and unenthused suburban living and unfulfilled dreams -- these little clay shorts are beautifully dismal.
