I had a friend that has an addiction problem, and it got to the point where I finally had to turn my back on him. I tried everything I could to help him short of forcing him to get help, but it didn't work, and I finally gave up as it was starting to affect me too. I get the feeling he hates me for turning on him, but there comes a point where you just can't do anything else. I always hope that I won't get a call saying he killed someone, or himself, but at the same time, the possibility is always in the back of my mind. Addiction is a terrible thing, it doesn't just affect one person, it affects everyone around them too.
