because of you, my brand new oled monitor is destroyed, this video is a lie and it does not come off after soaking in water for 5 hours. you owe me $900 (USD btw, i can tell from your accent that you are from some strange country). so how are you going to pay me for deceiving me into ruining my new monitor? Zelle or PayPal?

Is that anti glare coating you are romoving??? What if it is the filter for excessive UV or harmful blue light from the LEDs. Removing it will be like looking at the solar elipse without wearing a protective lens. How are your eye sight now????? cornea burning sensation???

Do NOT try this on any current monitor or from the past 5 years. The matte finish and polarizer is now ONE single layer and has been for years. You WILL ruin your monitor if you try what you see in this video.

@@basementdweller2830 Yes, I'm saying this from experience. I've done this trick a few times 10 years ago with great results. Then last year I tried it on my more modern Asus 144hz monitor and ruined it, upon further inspection of the layer it was ONE single layer. Matte finish with polarizer in one. There is a new method of buffing out the matte finish that I'm looking into now.

@@KenKlejs I would do some research first before attempting this on ANY modern monitor. My Asus PG279Q uses ONE single layer for polarizer and matte finish. I ruined my monitor but I was OK and perfectly fine with buying a new monitor if didn't work. I've even taken a piece of the layer off and tried to search for a matte finish layer with a razor blade, there was NO second layer. I've done this on two other monitors in the past with success but they were 10 years old models. Manufacturers are no longer using two layers and have not been for years.

Thanks for the tutorial. I'm going to change monitor soon, as my current monitor is matte (Asus PB278Q) and my future monitor will be glossy (probably OLED), I wanted to see what a glossy monitor would look like in the room where I have my PC. As I'm not patient, I removed the anti-glare after only an hour 😅 By removing it, I thought the screen was broken but in fact, the anti-glare plastic was torn. That said, I managed to remove the torn pieces without having to add paper and water. After putting everything back together, I turned on my PC and my god... what a slap I took 😱 My monitor already had very good image quality but now, the image is magnificent 🥰 I'm still going to have to change because I play a lot and my monitor is limited to 60Hz but the image quality is so much more beautiful after removing the anti-glare...

@@MrSookonn They aren't semi glossy. Semi glossy = reflections that are diffused to different degrees, but not defined as with glossy. You have no idea who you are talking to. I have tested monitors and TVs since 2008. Yes, most of the screens in the store are semi-glossy, but the top models are not. All mobile phones and tablets have glossy screens because you need to pixels to be clear to be able to appreciate the high PPI (pixels per inch). Let me explain to you something, this is not a matter of opinion, ignoramus. Its a matter of fact that glossy screens are clearer, with more vibrant colors and even measurably brighter on the same panel (demonstrated by measurements after removing matte coating). Matte coating destroys PQ by distorting the pixels, making for a grainy/ oily picture that is unclear, it also traps light that reduces perceived contrast. All this is a consensus by now and demonstrated many times, you just need to google to find the evidence.

It's so crazy that manufacturers make a great display boasting about HDR, resolution, etc and then put a f-ing plastic sticker on it. It'd be so easy to just make it an optional addon. Most people play in a dark or dimly lit room anyway and no one is buying a monitor labelled as a "gaming monitor" for work stuff exclusively. Imagine having worse image quality on your new 4K HDR monitor than a 12 year old TV.

at 9:12 you can see that the mat foil was just put over the monitor and not attached to it, so there is a distance between the mat foil and the monitor which makes the comparisons quite useless.

@@Abrioso Yes I've done it twice. Once with a "frameless" Dell and once with a Samsung that did have a frame. The Samsung was more involved was you have to open up the case, detach some wire plugs, which will only fit one way and in one location. (easy to get back in place-or take a picture) The remove the screen panel, remove the metal frame, not as difficult as it sounds, and begin the process. I kept my screens moist for 8 hours just to make sure. He goes over how to remove the screen fame in the video. Just take your time. It will work and what a difference. I can now buy any monitor and not worry about whether it is non reflective or not. When you remove the film you'll really see how hazy the screen film is. Good luck. His directions are good. Dismantling will mean taking out screws in back of monitor and prying open the case.
