Just one question. Why do they sing in the enemy's language, English?

One time, I entered a dream state (ie, I fell asleep) and I saw this young boy with a guitar-like instrument, and he was playing music that was just Heavenly. I would wake up and try to replicate it on my guitar, but it was no use. Not because I couldn't remember the song, not because the notes were coming too fast, but they just don't exist in the world we're sharing now. You've heard of people entering altered states and experiencing new colors, what about new notes? I still remember a couple bars. I'll try to hum them right now................................ Nothing is coming out of my mouth. I can't hum it, and you can't draw me a picture using unknowable colors. The closest song I could name that sounds like the Heaven song would probably be the main riff off of Sweet Child O' Mine, and I'm not saying that riff is THAT close bc it's not, it's just closest. (It's about twice as fast for one thing. I'm telling you, figuring out the Heaven song on a "real" guitar wouldn't be that hard if the notes were there.) Anyway, just wanted to say this song here reminds me of the emotional state I was in listening to the Heaven song. If I were you, I would learn to love this song if you don't already. ;)

In 2009, after procrastinating for several months, I wrote my master's thesis in a few weeks, because there was no choice at that point. To achieve this, I simply put my headset on and listened to this song in a loop. This song is a door to an other world, and her voice is, precisely, otherworldly. Absolutely wonderful.

Thanks for posting this real-live performance, this brought the soul sound into the new wave that made it OK for elite punk bands to cash in and get played on mainstream air, opening the doors for what became (the new wave sound.)

This is my favorite Jackson song. Rosemary was superb, showing us how great backup singers can elevate good songs to greatness! She was among the best in the business. 😍

Lyrics I hear your voice on the wind And I here you call out my name "Listen my child, " you say to me "I am the voice of your history Be not afraid, come follow me Answer my call and I'll set you free" I am the voice in the wind and the pouring rain I am the voice of your hunger and pain I am the voice that always is calling you I am the voice, I will remain I am the voice in the fields when the summer's gone The dance of the leaves when the autumn winds blow Ne'er do I sleep throughout all the cold winter long I am the force that in springtime will grow I am the voice of the past that will always be Filled with my sorrow and blood in my fields I am the voice of the future Bring me your peace Bring me your peace and my wounds, they will heal I am the voice in the wind and the pouring rain I am the voice of your hunger and pain I am the voice that always is calling you I am the voice I am the voice in the past that will always be I am the voice of your hunger and pain I am the voice of the future I am the voice I am the voice I am the voice I am the voice

What a great song! Written by Jackson and the mother ( Nancy Farnsworth) of his wife who later committed suicide with an overdose of barbiturates. Almost sounds like a soap opera , but this song was the inspiration of Nancy Farnsworth before all the bad things happened. She brought it to Jackson for collaboration and the lyrics that he added made it a great song, such as “I’ll be in the dark, but you’ll be out of sight.” Add on Rosemary Butler and David Lindley and there you have it : a perfect song.
