Those draws man. Is mono black midrange favored in this matchup despite deeproot pilgrimage, or is it normally a rough matchup for mono black?

I definitely don't feel favored. I added the feed the swarms to the sideboard for the matchup but it's still rough.

On the deluge at the end, you take 2 spells to have one discarded by the duress, take a land and a spell and you end up with 1 more land in hand. Lets you cast deluge at the end for verdict.
@ZakanaHachihaCBC4 күн бұрын
At the end of the game the Deluge would have been worth keeping. On 7 lands, digging 4 deep gives the chance at Land+Verdict.

You had leather 22:53 black had the game. If you tap your lands better you cast the trespasser with the colorless land leaving you three black. Drops him to 10. Crew the buster with her. Swing out puts him under three. Tap three black make him draw three lose three game.

Invoke despair in game 2 resolved incorrectly, as part of resolution the entire text should be done before state based actions are checked which means the oppo could sac ensoul to the spell.

@shwy5 күн бұрын
Yeah I think so
@LibertyMTG5 күн бұрын
It's a tough one and we have more information than they do. With a 6th land he won't tap out to play Wandering Emperor and he can still hold up counter magic. I wouldn't have been playing around a protection spell. Even in that instance, tapping out on your own turn is not something I want to do when playing control.
@kenny199106 күн бұрын
The Jund player should've lost as soon as you played the second Shelly. He drew four cards and didn't take the damage from the first Shelly being on the field before he killed it with fatle push.😊

Sloppy play, Emergent not exiled, stack shenanigans on Omniscience and forgotten life gain trigger Sheoldred (37:09), no 2 life shock for Hallowed Fountain 40:30.
@colton926614 күн бұрын
Hey Matt! I noticed a line in the second game around 41:00 where i think the turn could have went: play land, avarice on the opponent (making them draw and lose 9), then activate hive and swing out since it would be lethal (or don't swing and possibly win with sheoldred trigger). Though, I could be missing something because I'm not sure what the merfolks do but i think there were chances to do some shenanigans with avarice and win earlier. Great games though! Been a hard monoblack control/midrange player for a long time and its thanks to this youtube channel for the inspiration. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
@LibertyMTG14 күн бұрын
Tishana's Tidebinder countered Sheoldred's trigger, and then removes all abilities from it. If it wasn't for the Tidebinder being play, yes that line would have been lethal. It's also why I didn't gain life from the cards I drew. I had to find a removal spell for it.
