I'm 34 weeks pregnant. Today my 9th mnth started. Day after yesterday, my ultrasound scan was done. There my baby's weight is 3,040 gm 6 lb 11oz. There was written "Baby is large" for gestational age. In India, this much size also comes under large. Doctor had said for c-section on 31st Aug. Nearabout 36-37 weeks. 😢. My daughter is 4 and 10 mnths old and she was born through c-section. There's 4 yrs gap. Still that doctor said for operate. She's not in favor of VBAC.😔

I'm so thankful I had 4 natural easy deliveries. My Dr.s were set on I was going to need a C-section with my 1st because I was 16 and I was going to have a big baby. I told them I absolutely was not. My water broke on its on at 37wks. I got to the hospital at 12pm. My daughter was born at 5:17pm. 7lbs.7oz. Now my mom did have 2 C-sections. She is 4ft 10in tall. I was stuck inside he pelvic bones. I was going in distress. They let her lay for 15 hours before they took me.

My second baby had macrosmia, 11.5 lbs. Large genes on the father's side. No gestational diabetes. I tried to push naturally for a long time. Sometimes it is true, sometimes the baby is just too large.

Thanks you! What you are saying around 12.12 brings t tears to my eyes. This is exactly how I feel. I/we did all the homework, and suddenly at the last moment... Everything got twisted upside down and around. Why did they wait this long to drop these bombs? Why didn't they tell me this at 20 weeks or at 24? I did not see it coming. It makes me feel 'lost.' I lost my trust in the birth-team. I do'n feel safe anymore. So I'm now changing care-providers at 37 weeks. The stress this gives me, is not okay. I hope I can find my centre/balance/grounding back soon. Luckely I still feel trust in myself, my body and my baby. i know and feel my body is healthy and strong, my baby is healthy and strong and my womb is healthy and strong... I know I can do this! I just have to find a new birth-team, so I can feel safe again.

I feel like the support generally fades after the second child in the US. I'm only on my third pregnancy and my only support people at this point are my husband and my midwife. Everyone else has made comments like "you already have one of each, why be greedy?", "why on earth would you want more than two?", "the earth's population isn't getting any smaller, you know...", "you know how this happens, right?", "well yeah you're tired and sore, what did you expect?" There's also a lot of negativity towards home midwives I've noticed, and people will insinuate I'm being irresponsible for having the baby at home. It's sad.

Thank you so much Chavah! I gave birth to a 10lb 2oz via c-section after 31 hours of an induced labor with folley bulb and pitosin. I had developed polihydramnios, was at 41.5 weeks without going into active labor, this was my first baby. My midwife recommended a transfer to hospital care where they would induce. I have had to grief this process and the outcome. We are getting ready for another pregnancy hopefully and these messages of encouragement are helpful. Big hug!

How do you keep gestational diabetes from occuring in pregnancy
@espem88
@espem88 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately it's one of those things that you cannot control. It has to do with the pancreas not producing enough insulin to lower blood sugar adequately. It's due to the placenta producing hormones that block insulin (insulin resistance).

I experienced this with my 4th baby. My water broke at 11am on a Friday but I didn’t have a single contraction until 3am Saturday morning. I was so anxious I couldn’t sleep Friday night…. I finally slept from about midnight to 3am and that’s when my contractions started! I labored mostly in bed for the next 8 hours…. And then baby was born very quickly! I’m glad I listened to my body and rested. I had longer and stronger contractions when laying down but not when I was up walking around.

Amazing advice. I’ll be taking all of this on board. I’m 36 weeks pregnant with my second and felt like I was being rushed with my first because of hospital environment and how busy the hospital was that night. I knew this too but the “just rest” advice would have been so much better for me. I was 29 hours in labour due to baby being initially back to back and couldn’t even feel my contractions at the end. My baby was also 3.8kg/8 pound 7 and I’m a petite Mum. My heart rate and my baby’s heart rate remained totally stable throughout, strong and steady. My body was utterly exhausted so when it came to pushing phase I made it but I was so close to my limit. I did have a problem with the placenta afterwards and had a moderate bleed because of delay in birthing placenta. So everything you said add’s up……I’ll know this time round.

Chavah, thank you so much for this gorgeous video. I had my first baby in 2019. I’m a very petite woman but 5 foot 6 height and had 3.8 kg beautiful, perfect baby girl in 2019 after 29 hours of labour, she was back to back initially. I just had gas and air when I was in active labour and that’s all I needed to push through. I was utterly exhausted and gave it my all, I succeeded with an amazing birth partner, my protective husband and someone who had ran marathons /cycles etc! He said it was without doubt harder than any endurance test he performed and he believes I’m made of stronger athletic stuff! I’m 36 weeks pregnant with my second baby and saw one Reg this week who I hadn’t met before who put my alarm bells up re baby measuring 3 weeks ahead. She was all about needing to perform an urgent GTT (I had one at 28 l weeks and it’s was normal, I booked it privately myself, urines clear) and she booked an ultrasound “growth” scan for two weeks time…….anyway I cancelled both these tests. I realise that she may just be an anxious, induction happy type doctor that quite clearly never read my history with my first birth. Large first baby, gas and air and intact perineum. I had a graze, that was it. I’m not gonna let someone put their anxiety on me at 36 weeks pregnant. I’m trying to stay confident and I’m happy to wait until full term like I did with Lucy and go into labour naturally as I did with her provided baby is doing well heart rate wise/health wise and that I’m doing well. It’s amazing how one Doctor could throw you off your journey and upset you so easily at a vulnerable time. I’m glad I’ve spoken to midwives and done my Gentlebirth course. I’m doing a refresher next week. ❤

Where were you 32 years ago?. Here I am 4'11. Weighing only 112 before birth of baby, gained only 9 lbs , meaning 1 total weight 121/122 at time of delivery. BABY'S father is 6' 3" and was also born 9 lbs 4 oz. His mother could have told me 😩. My baby, well actually my daughter who was 1st @ 7 lb 9 oz, and then my 9 lb son, both had to go to the nicu. No more children for me.

No gestational diabetes, a healthy weight. My daughter was born 12lbs 1oz! Natural and no pain relief, but it was tough! I'm now 32 weeks with baby number 3 and my midwife is saying this baby is measuring huge and will likely be larger than my daughter. It's scary! I'm being pressured to opt for an elective c section but I would love to know I can do it naturally again. Fantastic information here thank you so much.

@@sarah-angelhopa6347 Hi! Aw absolutely. First off all, huge congratulations and well done on growing such a big and healthy babe. Today is my due date! I'm booked in for a homebirth despite the size, not saying I'm not apprehensive though! It's understandable to be nervous, but please don't put any pressure on yourself and know that whatever you decide will be the right decision. Our bodies won't grow a baby that is too big for us to birth. My daughter was so strong, her birth was tough but I really felt she did a lot of the work and despite having a tilted pelvis she entered the world with zero complications. Gravity is key! My biggest advice is to try and stay relaxed. I felt the panic of all of the healthcare providers leading up to my birth and it really affected my mindset going into it. We need to have more confidence in ourselves and our amazing bodies. Let me know if you have any more questions.. I'd love to hear how everything goes.

My first baby had an expected birth weight of 3400 grams, but was born at 40+5 weighing 4912 grams (after pooping). Labor did not progress past 6-7 cm, so (after horrible back labor) it ended up in a C-section. The physicians were shocked, as nothing pointed towards a big baby. My HbA1C after birth was normal, so it’s unlikely that I had gestational diabetes or anything that could explain it. Now I am pregnant again (currently 24 weeks) and I really want to give birth vaginally, but I’m so scared that it will be another big baby and the birth will be complicated and/or end up in another C-section (or worse). Any thoughts?

I'm 29 weeks with my 4th. This will be my second vbac. My other 3 were all under 8 lbs. But for sone reason they seem to think this one will be 11lbs at birth! My first two got stuck and that's why I needed a csection with my second. I had no problems with my third. I was hoping to try my birthing center again but I'm afraid they're going to say I'm not a candidate, especially with my history! I just find it very hard to believe that they are estimating such a large baby when I don't have gd and my others were normal size. Are ultrasounds really accurate?

@askamidwife1095 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Margit, thanks for writing! I would like to reassure you that 3 days or one week is actually all in the range of normal and IT IS NOT POSSIBLE to be that exact with ultrasound. No one should be altering your due date based on measurements gathered at an ultrasound performed later in pregnancy. This is ONE OF MANY reasons why numerous ultrasounds in pregnancy are unhelpful in a healthy person with a healthy pregnancy. Good fetal movement and fundal height measurements are a good gauge of fetal wellbeing and growth respectively. So, since ultrasound isn't accurate down to the day, no need to cause yourself stress or anxiety and instead, be happy your baby is growing well!!!
