Chainsaw mill is great if you are doing it for fun. You could never make a dime doing it for others. If you can I need to talk to you about my love for wood...and you as a partner.

@conefurnishings5 ай бұрын
Chainsaw milling in general is a ton of work! I think it’s worth it for the mobility, low(ish) cost of entry, and the ability for me to cut really unique pieces of wood.
@christianhviid21674 ай бұрын
Totally worth it. You cant mill your own wood in any other affordable way.

Okay. What did you make of it? A crotch is firewood unless someone knows something different. I mean one piece could be made into a funky coffetable
@conefurnishings5 ай бұрын
Currently these pieces are still drying. I’ll likely cut these up further and use them sequentially for some type of table top. I’m sure the crotch sections will require some stabilization, but they’ll be beautiful!

Very nice. What a great way to use “scrap” lumber. Where did you find the foam material. I’ve searched Amazon and it just comes up with the fly boxes or inserts for a particular box. Did you consider putting the foam on both sides. Thanks
@conefurnishings6 ай бұрын
Thank you! I worked with a specific group for this and they requested foam on only the one side. The specific foam I used shows up on Amazon occasionally, but doesn’t seem to be regularly stocked. I got a few more orders for these later on and had a hard time locating more of the foam.

Looking for an easy way to control the flow of oil in my homemade chainsaw oiler. How do you keep it from coming out too quickly?
@conefurnishings7 ай бұрын
There’s probably a better solution out there, but I put multiple zip ties tight around the tube pulling it tight against the metal pole. I played around with it a bit until it was a slow but steady drip. 3 zip ties worked for me. Someday I do intend to install the granberg oiler.

What exactly is happening here? I see the board snaps but can someone explain why? What would happen if you continued pushing the cut through? I’m sorry if the answer is obvious.
@conefurnishings7 ай бұрын
There was enough tension in the wood that as I got to the end of the cut, it released that tension causing it to break the rest of the way down. I did finish the cut, but it’s definitely a scary thing when it pops like that while you’re pushing it towards the blade!

Are the $90 ones from Amazon any good? Just for casual?
@conefurnishings2 ай бұрын
Just noticing this comment! I had the Amazon version and would say it worked okay for me a little less than a year then I broke one of the welds while in a cut. I would personally recommend buying the Granberg version for the improved quality. That mill has held up to a ton of milling for me.

5 7/8” x 4 3/8” - we based the size off the foam because the customer preferred that specific foam pad.
