You know these old hemis and max wedge cars we're not the most beautiful but we would be tickled pink to have any of these models with these push button autos 👍

Beautiful ! I just purchased a '66! 273, floor shift auto, mostly original yellow paint. Was sitting for 20 years! I replaced fuel tank, pump, carb, 4 bent pushrods, installed electronic ignition, All new coolant hoses , water pump, had the trans rebuilt and am now driving it! Love it and deciding to restore totally or leave as is!

1:33 - it shouldn't really take that length of time for fuel to reach the carburetor I believe, unless it is a hydraulic fuel pump of course and even then it still shouldn't take that long. An electric pump certainly shouldn't take that long as I believe it has the ability to prime itself prior to starting, if an engine hasn't been started for a while and the fuel line is dry/empty. It may pay to ask an expert who can provide you with the correct info regarding this issue - and I believe it is an issue. That 472 Hemi is brand new isn't it? So there's no way it should take that long for fuel to reach the carb. And of course there could be an electricity issue other than fuel also...I love your ride, it is easily one of the sweetest example's I have ever seen....and heard - when started, the sound of its big block 472ci was sensationally stunning to say the least. Best wishes Steve.

WHEN I WAS 20 IN 1966 I BOUGHT A 63 POLARA 500 WITH THE 426 WEDGE, NO POWER STEERING OR ANY POWER ACCESSORIES, 3:91 POSI, HIGH RISE FACTORY HEADERS, BEEFED UP TORQUEFLITE BY B&M, , BRIGHT RED, RED/WHITE SEATS, KICKED ASS DURING THOSE YEARS, VERY FAST FROM STOP LIGHT TO STOPLIGHT. JACKED UP THE FRONT TORTION BARS FOR MORE WEIGHT TRANSFER, EASY TO DO, CHROME SLOTTED MAGS, SOUNDED WHITE LETTERED GOODYEAR POLYGLASS GTS, AWESOME SOUND WHEN THE FACTORY SIDE EXHAUST UNDER THE DOORS WERE OPENED UP, QUITE A CAR. 5 MPG ON THE FREEWAY, 8 AROUND TOWN IF YOU KEPT YOUR FOOT OUT OF IT WHICH I SELDOM DID, GREAT YEARS IN THE 60S AND 70S.I WON 53 OF THE LAST 55 RACES ON EL CAMINO REAL BEFORE I GOT DRAFTED INTO THE ARMY IN 67. I KEPT TRACK OF EACH RACE. PUSHED "N" RACING A 396 CHEVELLE THE NIGHT BEFORE I LEFT FOR FT. ORD, SCATTERED THE TRANS. OH WELL, WISH I STILL HAD IT.

Take care driving on the highway with the windshield open, I was cruising about 65 in mine and saw this blur come over the hood and POW! it hit me right in the middle of the forehead. Best I could tell it could have been a June bug, but the body must have blown out through the open side window. Rattles could be the side mount spare tires.

I had an original 33 Royal 8 like this only with sidemounts. Nice driving car, but the ~300 ci engine only had about 90 hp. My grandmother had it since new. Once while I was driving with the windshield open about 60 mph, I saw this blur come over the hood and it hit my forehead right between the eyes! My eyes watered up and I could barely see for a few seconds. It must have been a June Bug. Thanks for sharing this video!

Just seeing this 8 years later, hope your Dad is still enjoying his Barracuda. Great story
@rogermetzger73358 жыл бұрын
There were faster cars in 1966 but the Formula S had WAY more power than anyone in his right mind would ever need. Beside the power, the Barracuda had several other things going for it. Maneuverable for a car with enough room in the back for a 6-footer to sleep lying down. (Not many cars had reclining seats in 1966.) A 4-speed that was as good as any in the business at that time OR a Torqueflight transmission that would result in useless wheelspin in the Formula S but would launch the 180 hp version several carlengths ahead of almost anything not Mopar in 1966. (An aftermarket fuel pressure regulator was helpful on the drag strip.) Torsion bar suspension that gave the standard version handling on a par with the "performance" suspensions of other manufacturers. (The Formula S suspension and shocks were available without getting the whole Formula S package.) A truly great (by American standards) car that is underappreciated by many people.

My dad had a friend that owned one of those and his friend would stick a 20$ bill between the windshield and the bet was if my dad could grab it before he hit second gear he could keep it. The gforce pinned him down so bad he couldn't quite reach the 20$.

just my two cents,i'm old retired master tech of 41 yrs,i've put a motor or trans in most usa products since 1955 on and everybody made a good car thru 1972,even rambler,i rarely got to drive what i fixed,we were to busy but every now and again id' drive a customers car with new engine,all of em screamed,they ran exceptually good ,the hipo models were frightening in a light rain,no traction at all,most of the old big blocks were way overpowered,108-112 gas didn't hurt either in the 60's get you one and keep it,we;ll never see their like again

I've had a few rides myself that did that when fluid is still in the line after previous use and it would be forced out at full throttle due to good 'ol G-forces I guess! :) Cars capable of running high 12 sec ET's or faster I have noticed that same thing happening before & my GTO used to fling loose change at me that I kept in the center console front ashtray even when opened only halfway--yet it was hard to dig change out when I needed it at the burger drive thru!! LOL! I would end up with quarters, dimes etc, under my seats and on the rear floor unless I shut the ash tray before those full throttle episodes driving around town...I miss that car a lot and wish I'd kept it!

Yeah, im more of a chevy guy my self but i have my favs and dislikes like anyone else. Im personally about to buy a 79, Camaro so yeah ill be supporting, and im also a huge muscle car enthusiast as well and im also really big on imports. Not as in like civics but like 2jz's and RB26's. Im only 16 and ive helped my dad out together many motors so i got a future with automotive stuff :P

Yeah I saw one of these things win against a motorcycle in a drag race. thats when I respected the super bee.
@Dino046911 жыл бұрын
There you go-thats the way you do it! A muscle car is a muscle car whether it's Chevy, Ford or Mopar-you gotta love them all regardless...But I've personally always been a Chevy fan because of my dad when I was a kid growing up in the '60s but I'm also a muscle car enthusiast meaning I like them all! Any of the cars from that era are awesome in my book and I'd enjoy owning either one of them...
