Did you misspell “Whychus”? I find Whychus creek southeast of Sisters, Oregon.
@markdarnell569Ай бұрын
@@stevenblackthorne4790 Whychus originates from between Middle and North Sister, flowing north through Sisters to its confluence with the Deschutes. There are some good hikes along it, such as Chus Falls. Thanks for your comment, glad you liked the video.

Thank you for this remarkable video. I have visited Steens Mountain and the Hart Mountain hot spring campground many times. What memories! It was good to see more of other places I was not able to go: Alvord, Pueblo, Owyhee. Excellent use of Google Earth to give overviews followed by your own excellent photographs. I have my own treasured photographs from those places and I do know how to appreciate good work of that type. Cudos and thanks! At 83 I may not be able to see it again for real.

Cool video! Glad to see you're getting out to the far flung corners of the Oregon's wild desert. Did you get a chance to explore the huge boulder-field just to the north of the main canyon? The boulders peeling off the rim above are truly gigantic.
@markdarnell5696 ай бұрын
I saw them from a distance and could tell they were giants, even from far away.

In Utah and Wyoming/flaming gorge reservoir. The antelope herds are phenomenal. I am so amazed at the speed they can run. They are so versatile in the terrain. From pine trees and mountain hilltops to the deserts water edge of the lake. They are everywhere. My good friend Dewey and I spent many summer nights and early mornings, watching them graze at dawn before the heat of the day. Missing the memories. People and beautiful antelope! Thank you for sharing!!!!

Yes, they are the second fastest land animal, behind the cougar. I have seen them run 40mph+ over super rocky, broken terrain, smooth as silk. Seems impossible. Thanks for your comments!

In mid October of 2007 it became already too icy & with some snow even, on the loop road, for a standard passenger vehicle to safely reach the parking lot near the summit. Best time might be early July through September.

You LOVE Norway (smile). I've never been there. However, my Grandfather was born in Norway & I've had a curious & wonderful affinity 4 this Place my whole life. You make it easier to understand my curiosity & 'my 'liking'. "Thank You" (hug). I live in Northern California; 28 miles from the Oregon Border; on the coast. The first video I watched of your's was of the Oregon Southern-Eastern Terrain. It was interesting to see the major differences between Oregon's coastline's & Oregon's Interior. Vastly different, yet, both unbelievably beautiful. You managed to capture this beauty & capture my attention (wink). There is an amazing Man I watch on KZbin. His KZbin 'handle' is called "The Norwegian Xplorer'er". Yes, he is from Norway. And? And, he looks alot like you (smile). Karl is his name. He hikes the back Country of Norway & takes One to places never seen by many. You may enjoy his videos. Please look at Karl's 'past' videos regarding Norway. Why? Because lately, Karl has been enduring Winter Blizzards & these videos are quite extreme. Karl's 'fair weather' Norway videos are truly amazing, tho. And, much more less intimidating (blink). You have a "GIFT" 4 looking at the World the same way GOD would.....I believe. "THANK YOU" 4 sharing your GIFT (BIG hug). GOD BLESSES ALL.

did you know that the term Owyhee got it's name from trappers trying to spell Hawaii it seems some native Hawaiians who wanted directions to find local Indian tribes ..they walked off into the wilderness and were never seen again the area was named for them on the maps

Some beautiful footage there Mark! As a teenager (think I was 16-17) I went camping in that area (top of Blitzen) with John Scharff, who was the first manager of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, and who the Scharff Waterfowl Festival was named after. That was 1970! Need to get back to the Steens - it’s been over 20 years since I’ve last been up there. Thanks for sharing.

Living in Central Oregon near Tumalo Falls is a great base camp to explore the many places others do to travel. We have done several trips to the Owyhee area and this video shows me how many more trips I need to take. As I skim through your videos. I need to re watch many of them and make a bucket list of off the beaten paths to visit. We explore year around in this region. So much to see and experience. Why camp at Crane prairie when you can go to so many other less crowded areas in Oregon. Keep up the good work
