Can I use a hair tie instead of the elastic band as an alternative? Or is it going to ruin it
@darahandmadeau4 күн бұрын
@@mintahi2391 yes, absolutely you can! I don’t have a video on that but if you do a search on how to make a scrunchie with a hair tie, I’m sure a few would come up

I would like to know about that "Knitting stick" you are using. What is that? It isn't a bodkin, is it? I've never seen anything like it. How is it used in knitting? I really like your music and the tutorial. Very well done.
@darahandmadeau3 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the support! My mom used it to knit, but honestly I have no idea what exactly it is and where it was from. I can’t ask her anymore because she sadly left us a few years ago.

With the second method the needle gets stuck in the elastic for some reason.

I've done this zigzag and it's not as clean or secure as a server. Also, the see her cuts the excess fabric off and can adjust to knit and very delicate fabrics while not restricting the movement of those fabrics.

What is the seam allowance x
@darahandmadeau5 ай бұрын
It’s the distance between the line where you sew and the edge of the fabric. If the seam allowance is too small and the fabric ends up fraying then your stitches will become undone. If you do a quick google search it’ll show you the image which might explain better x

Hi, when you cut the folded fabric, how do you know it will come out correctly?
@AussieMumVLOGS5 ай бұрын
Hi! So pretty! My 3 yr old would love these! Im a beginner, never used a machine before.. What is the seam allowance when sewing? What is the tension What is the stitch length What is the stitch width? I feel overwhelmed, sewing is scary but you make it look so fun
@darahandmadeau5 ай бұрын
Thank you 🥰 Don’t worry You’ll pick it up in no time! I was the same a few years ago, I’d bought my sewing machine when COVID first started and didn’t touch it for a year because I didn’t know where to begin! After watching several tutorial videos I finally got started! My advice is to purchase a machine then watch the instructional video that comes with that machine. I’ll try to put together a guide soon.

@@darahandmadeau Thank you!! I actually made my husband watch your videos today. He was hesitant about me buying a sewing machine because I often buy things and never use them! First it was KZbin videos, then it making biscuits, then cake layering then I got into crochet then cricut 😄 Now I'm really interested in sewing!! He watched your video with me and he said what's her machine and he said I can buy it haha yay! How do you change the width and length of stitches on your machine? I've seen on the computerised machine there is a button but I don't know how I would do it on the JV1400 So when I sew close her scrunchies using your burrito method so the stitches are tiny? Also what string should I buy? I'm off to spotlight tomorrow Yay! Thanks heaps! I hope you get back into KZbin again soon!
@darahandmadeau5 ай бұрын
@@AussieMumVLOGS Your husband seems very sweet, I don’t think my husband’s ever sat through any one of my videos 😄 The stitches can be adjusted by turning the big knob, there are 14 on my machine. If you’re going to Spotlight tomorrow then might be best to ask the staff for a good beginner machine. Mine is okay but there might be better ones or better deals? Regarding the threads I’d usually just get the most basic ones, they’re 100% polyester and available in sets of different colours. They also have sewing kits with all the things you’d need to get started like scissors, threads, pins, etc. I hope that helps, all the best x

Hiii. Wow i could make my daughter 1 million scrunchies! As a beginner ive never sewn before ever, is this method easier or the burrito style? What tension to use What stitch length or thickness? How did you get the bobbin string up out on the case to start sewing? It looks cool but i feel overwhelmed

Hi there, thank you for the suggestion 😊 I will try to work on that soon. If you sign up to Spotlight’s VIP list (free), I can see they’re having 50% off several sewing machines at the moment. Mine is the Brother JV1400, but I reckon any of their other brands would do, too, maybe check out their reviews?

You mean the last method? It’s visible in the sense that the scrunchy is flattened where sewn, but using matching thread helps.
