I love how in the original Japanese version, this move is only 20 seconds at most. That means when they were bringing the game over to the West, someone on the team said "You know what, let's just make this animation even more overkill and ridiculous simply because we can."

Genesis needed magic and power ups the entire fight, sephiroth never once used magic and used a limit i think but pretty sure sephoroth barely broke a sweat, but was definitely getting into the fight before angeal interrupted

I still remember getting to this fight on Halloween, 1997... and thinking it was SO bad ass, and INCREDIBLY Satanic.... and then he does Super Nova and i literally cried laughing over how funny it was, how incredibly over the top it went. God i love that game!

As cool as this attack is, I never liked how it never made sense. The best use for it would be when the cpu knows that the attack would kill all the players. That way Supernova leads to a game over. Which makes sense. THE SUN AND SOLAR SISTEM ARE GONE!

This is a summon, meaning it doesn't really happen. It drags the target inside a pocket dimension where this takes place, and when the attack ends, it brings them back to reality.

Even then it would make no sense for sephiroth to be this powerful in the first place. The entire spell is an illusion, that's why it also confuses. The damage it deals is mental damage.

I remember thinking I just lost the game on turn 2 or 3 of this fight. Wondering if I fucked up somehow or maybe needed an item, Then you get hit and the party is alive. It's such a strange ability, because nothing else in FF7 is as over the top as this. You go from magic that effects 50ft of ground max to this one blowing up the sun and knocking out 1/2 the planets.
