This seems like a good idea, however if someone ever runs into the gate on accident, that screw will I in turn blow out the the posts. I've seen a Harley go thru a vinyl fence and the guy was able to snap the whole fence back together with no damage. But had that set screw been there, I'm sure there would have been some damage..... For the post were the hinges go is there some kind of wood inside or like that hollow just screws to the vinyl?
@vinylyardsolutionsinc12282 ай бұрын
@VictorDiaz-ju5vq there are a couple options. 1) an aluminum or galvanized steel post stiffener is installed in the post as it's set. The hinge screws would attach solidly thru the post and into the stiffener 2) screw the hinges into the hollow post . The post should 3 to 4 rebar in it at time of installation that come up into the post approximately 3ft. After the hardware is installed then the post can be filled about 3/4 height with a good stiff concrete mix . Make sure the post is plumb each way...

Pour some cement into the hole, easy fix
@vinylyardsolutionsinc12282 ай бұрын
@aerohk actually, we found that the post was only about 18 to 20 inches in the ground with cement , BUT was sitting on top of a concrete slab. Because it wasn't secured to the concrete slab in any way, so it just wobbled around after a period of time. We drilled in and set 4 - 10M rebar into the slab with epoxy , set a new post over the rebar, reassembled the fence and filled the post about 18 in past the bottom rail with a stiff concrete mix. Super solid, no problems, and still standing strong🙂

Why is there so much gap Uber the fence
@vinylyardsolutionsinc12282 ай бұрын
Because the landscape and sidewalk had not been completed at of installation ... homeowner wanted the fence completed before doing the rest of the work.

What length is your rebar for these full 6ft post? And can I use fast setting quickcrete?
@vinylyardsolutionsinc12284 ай бұрын
@thehowtoguy6336 typically 4- 10MM x 3ft rebar in a 6ft post. Railing posts usually 12 to 18in rebar. U can use the fast setting quick quickcrete, but man, you wanna be perfectly certain that the posts are plumb each way and all sections are placed exactly 💯 % . If there's any correction to be made u outta luck😁

What length rebar do you use on full 6ft vinyl post?
@tholi10524 ай бұрын
What purpose does the rebar serve? Keeping the concrete column from breaking? It is not attached to the vinyl post so no support there.
@vinylyardsolutionsinc12284 ай бұрын
@tholi1052 so the concrete the post is set in , sets up in the process of the installation and once the fence is assembled then we recommend filling the posts about halfway with cement. The rebar ties the previously set concrete to the fresh concrete poured into the post after the fence is assembled.... to be fair, it's an over- design system we utilize, but really performs well in high wind situations. Thanks for watching!

Honestly just get some quikcrete and fill the post up, you’ll have the sturdiest vinyls fence ever. We used to do it for our end posts
@vinylyardsolutionsinc12284 ай бұрын
@KC-sz4gx that can be done in a normal routed post system, but these "H" type posts are slid over 1.875 " pipe which the contractor pounded in the ground.... We don't recommend this, It's a horrible system I was attempting to highlight....

It’s not poor quality vinyl; it’s poor installation. If the posts were plunge set into wet concrete, and properly plumbed: this would not be an issue…

@vinylyardsolutionsinc12286 ай бұрын
We do have a series of videos that addresses hanging /installing a gate. It works for this application as well. The only thing you'd want to watch for is that the rebar is set back inside the post enough that the hinge screws don't interfere when they're put on....

Yes, the top , bottom rails both have an aluminum I insert in them. The stiles also have an aluminum J inside from top to bottom. Those help specifically with securing the hinges more solidly to prevent tearout.

It's just horrible. I'm about to put in one section of the same vinyl fence. Throughout the years, I installed many wood and steel post fences. Yet, this is my first vinyl fence install. So, I got some advice from my buddy, and he schooled me to build the whole fence first on the ground. At my own discretion, I put two ratchet straps around it to keep it secure, yep. Likewise, I have the same style fence that has 2 brackets that have the three Screws. Subsequently, I'm thinking about using one of those 8'" 4 feet high, building forms or quick tube, for 8 bucks at Home Depot. I'll rip it in half. It'll be two feet long, each side of course, one for each post. For a good workout, maybe three bags of concrete around the post and put concrete inside the hollow void, about 2- 3 feet high. Note: I have to go back at it, and Jack Hammer one of the holes. It has an old cement block wall footing in the way. So i'm thinking about 10 bags of quikrete 90 lb concrete mix, i might have some extra leftovers, well see. In any case, if you have any suggestions, before I pour concrete next week, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, bros

How did you make that 45degree angle on that one post in the video?
@vinylyardsolutionsinc1228 Жыл бұрын
Typically the 2 posts either side of the 45 deg section would be precut to accommodate the rails. In the event you want to utilize standard routed posts , then you'd cut the rail cutouts wider by approximately 40 percent of the rail width. In this case of an 1.5" x 5.5" rail the hole would end up about 2.2 in wide. The major issue you'll have with doing this, is that the U-channels that are typically supplied with the fence won't work on an angled section of fence...
@onenicelyfe6744 Жыл бұрын
Amazing job btw. I plan on doing this project in the summer here in upstate NY and I have that 45degree portion to make. Hopefully with no U-channel it will still be sturdy and hold up.
@vinylyardsolutionsinc1228 Жыл бұрын
@onenicelyfe6744 we've done a couple different things to secure the panels at the posts...pre-drill 3 or 4 small holes and use 2in Stainless Steel screws thru the edge of the picket (panels) into the post to solidify them... or, we've fabricated a "U-channel" with an 1.5in square vinyl " picket" with a side cut out on the table saw, then screwed ṭo the posts.. You could bend Custom 45 U-channels with aluminum flatstock as well if you have the right tools. Thanks!

@vinylyardsolutionsinc1228 Жыл бұрын
@tripp2023 while that may seem kinda easy and quick , most chain link posts aren't installed or sized to withstand windloads that vinyl fencing typically has to endure. As well, the post centers of chainlink fencing likely won't work with the commonly 6 and 8 foot centers that vinyl fence is sold as... There are post cams made to suit chainlink posts and accommodate vinyl posts. Like I said earlier, the system just doesn't stand the test of time all that well either way...
