How do you use this program, I'm on Windows10? I'm trying to find right RPM's for F1 cars...

I wrote the program by myself for this visualization. Here is the implementation for web browser. labo.colspan.net/telemetry/ (but not working now because of using deprecated audio apis...) The data was retrived from Honda's event web site that has already shut down.

@@testdrive7772 No it wouldn't analyze the audio, but just playing the logs. Here is the raw log file. labo.colspan.net/telemetry/senna_2.json RPMs and throttle ratios are accurate. On the other hand the gear number is ambiguous, maybe manually added by human annotator. I hope this could help you.

Currently I don't have this lens, but I guess that you can only use this lens for AF even you use other cameras (Sony E mount or m4/3). Apature won't work.

Coming out of Degner in 2nd gear, he hits third as he tracks out (and the video momentarily cuts-out as he goes under the overpass), then he winds it out in 4th before getting hard on the brakes and downshifting sequentially all the way to 1st. He never hits 5th. He shifts sequentially from 4th down to 1st, not 5th to 2nd. The V10 from 1989 and 1990 could rev slightly higher and the gearbox was tuned accordingly as well. The V12-powered MP4/6, by contrast was geared differently and preferred to be a gear higher in certain instances, which is a trait shared by 12-cylinder racing engines in general, Ferrari most notably. In the case of the McLaren-Honda MP4/6 from 1991, having only changed down a single gear to 4th for the previous corner, he would've exited Degner already in third gear, then short-shifted through 4th and 5th, before changing down to 2nd for the hairpin. That's how he and Berger qualified and drove the entire 1991 Japanese GP. However, here in 1989 and again in 1990, the V10-powered Honda engine differs in that he keeps the gearbox in 4th and maxes out the revs, then gets very hard on the brakes and dowshifts sequentially all the way down to 1st. His sequential downshifts are somewhat unique, in that pretty much every other driver from the same time-period, including Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet and others, would take advantage of having a traditional manual and would commonly downshift from 5th or 6th directly to 3rd, with the appropriate changes made both to braking as well as rev-matching. Where Senna would begin changing down earlier, going from 6th to 3rd required a fraction of a second longer on the brakes prior to beginning the gear-change. Sorry but I'm a nerd and I notice this shit, lol.

Hi, Johnson. Thank you for your comment. I agree with you, and I'm sorry for that. Gear mappings of this movie lacks accuracy. I just diverted JSON data from Honda's event web site. I guess the web master didn't have gear mapping data, so they attatched manually this faulty mappings. But, this data has reliable series of speed, throttle, rev. I think this visualization is still valuable.

Yes, you're right, and it's great to see. Thank you for taking the time to post it! Check this out: This is the 1991 Japanese Grand Prix. Skip ahead to approximately 20.20 if you want to see Mansell spin off and Senna clinch the title. A funny moment happens at 21.38, when Senna is trying to remove the protective film from his visor while driving flat-out down the back straight, but the vibration is so intense that he finally has a try with his left hand, and tears it away just in time to change down to 5th gear and turn into the 130R. I don't think enough people have seen this and it needs to be seen by more people. Listen to the downshifts at the end before he goes through the Casio chicane. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I saved this offline a long time ago and play it at the gym to keep my adrenaline up when I'm running. www.dailymotion.com/video/xv0n2o_f1-suzuka-1991-onboard-senna-berger-mansell-patrese_sport

Oh, I have this VHS (sold in Japan and I live in Japan). Yes, I love these noise too :) , Especially Honda's V12. At the final lap of Suzuka 1991, Berger's exaust pipe got cracked and that causes heavy noise. Typically, He couldn't have won the race because of trouble, but Senna made Berger to pass him at the final corner. I read Berger's interview article and that said he lost his pride and got anger about that. Japanese Grand Prix in 1991 was so dramatic. We can see these movies again and again.

Old sigma lenses' aperture will not work for the digital EOS cameras, you will get the error 99 or 01. To avoid this error, you'll have to set the mode to 'Av', and set the value for f/2.8. The movie mode works without errors, but aperture will not work:(
