Could you please tell me what bridge you are using? Thanks!
@renoman3 күн бұрын
I made my own bridge.
@wiggsan3 күн бұрын
@@renoman Would you mind telling me the width of the top (ebony) of your bridge? And is the top ebony side flat or pointed? BTW, your playing is beyond phenomenal! Thanks!
@renomanКүн бұрын
I am not sure. I sand my bridges a little each time until I get the sound that I want. So it varies depending on the banjo. I just use classic ebony and maple wood. I made a video years ago about Reno style set up. I talk about bridges in it. It may help you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3a5iJ93jpypbKssi=bvSqElLR_bhe25R5

See, I grew up near Rocky Hock with this place called David's Red Barn. I was trying to learn to play the banjo and everyone kept telling me about this other kid who was "...pert' near the best around...."
@renomanАй бұрын
Lol I went to David's Red Barn many times with my dad. But I don't think I ever played there after I started playing that I can remember anyway. That was 30 years ago! Lol hard to believe!

I remember seeing Raymond Fairchild in Maggie Valley and Cherokee festivals in North Carolina and Jason. I’m sure you would appreciate Raymond’s take on the always question who was the greater between Reno and Scruggs I can remember his comments till this day.

Not good on the telephone at all but if my first text didn’t go through we would go to them festivals and we could play half the day and all night long Rito songs over and over and never played the same one twice I still know every word to every song that I ever heard him do my buddy always said he never played with nobody that could hit every red smiley lick that it was like me. whenever I approach them whether it was in the woods at a shack playing bluegrass, everybody would holler out here comes Arthur Lee.😀

Thanks Jay I will definitely get to lookin. I honestly thought there wouldn’t be much point. The presto on the RK I replaced with Prucha that’s much the same but both reknowned for bending I got from StewMAC but the down pressure is not as easily adjusted and I don’t like the old palm slapping technique as it pops the gates off them The Gretschs are solid old buggers and easy to get optimal downforce like the thumbscrews on a clam.
