How do these dams deal with the sentiment issue? Dams block the flow of sentiment which impacts the flow and nutrient profile downstream, which negatively impacts the ecosystem.

Yes, LOS is not new, nor is wireless data, but for anyone confused on how this differs from what we have today, think of the wireless spectrum much like trying to listen to music from outside someone else's car. Regardless if the doors/windows are open/down, you'll hear the bass if you're close enough. This is like the older 800Mhz spectrum (2G/analog/Verizon 4G in some areas). It can go through things easily but can't go as far. Now imagine they have their windows rolled down, at an odd angle to you, and kinda far away. You'll hear the vocals. This is like the more tranditional 3G/4G at 1.7-1.9Ghz. Now imagine they're a mile or more down the road, but you can literally see (LOS) their speakers. Now you'll hear the tweeting, or high-end treble as it's sometimes called. This is like mmWave or let's say 10Ghz+... Add to this that the higher frequencies have more space for the RF signal to encode data, and, in the right situation mmWave can give both better performance and reliability. But, for your average phone-in-pocket application, Verizon 700Mhz is the way to go.

Isn't AirFiber trademarked by Ubiquiti?
@TechAiJourney-h8089 күн бұрын
You're correct on that. I was mistaken, the mobile carriers don't use Airfiber, they use their 5G network that requires LOS that is a similar technology to Airfiber.
@sirobin17110 күн бұрын
I'm confused, we've had LOS connections for decades? This is actually a problem with this idea, today I can get a 5G signal in my house, walls, roof... I can get any number of carrier devices that will provide 5G internet access in my home. Why would I want to trade that wireless option for one that requires LOS. Is this more for enterprise? Microwave has also been around for decades?
@TechAiJourney-h80810 күн бұрын
While LOS is not a new technology, it has an added use. At least 2 mobile phone carriers use AirFiber to provide wireless home internet service to enhance speed and reliability in remote areas or where traditional 5G signals struggle to penetrate. It's not for everyone but I have switched from my conventional cable company to my mobile carrier. Thank you for your comment, I appreciate your perspective
@James_Knott9 күн бұрын
According to the video, it uses mmWave, which is much higher frequency (28 GHz IIRC) than other cell networks. This provides much more bandwidth, but also makes it more susceptible to blocking, as mentioned, and why they said to put up an external antenna with line of sight. This would also improve things at lower frequencies, compared to a phone. Also, as mentioned, it is 5G, which can be used on any cell band.

better quickly deploy those safe small nuclear reactors or we will be just charging the fancy batteries with the same old hydrocarbons...solar panels and wind turbines will never supply our power completely because of their intermittent nature. @TechAiJourney-h8083 ай бұрын
Sodium-ion batteries are more temperature-tolerant than lithium-ion batteries and lead-acid batteries. Some level of temperature management is advisable, it's to ensure optimal performance, longevity, and safety.
