Tenía un cat D 5b y un Komatsu D53 A-16, Komatsu lo superaba en todo, la verdad CAT mucha publicidad,,,acá en Chiapas era muy despreciado el Komatsu, por ignorancia.

Ive ran both. The Komatsu is nicer to run so you automatically might want to think its better..I would have thought the 8 would have done better. But then again a 155 feels more like a 9.

You can't compare cat to komatsu. I use to operate a komatsu d155 ax - 6. WHAT A BEAST!

When Caterpillar would dyno their engines they would dyno a stripped down no pulleys no torque to get higher hp numbers as compared to other manufacturers that had their torques pulleys etc on..When Cat bolted everything back on they were less horsepower then their claimed dyno #'s..Im not a Cat hater,just saying little things that were done to print out high hp numbers..

155 has more power and heavier. Somewhere between 8 an 9. Maintaining the cat is far easier if you do your own mechanical work. Kamatsu is a great machine though.

Komatsu was obviously on the fill area, move it over by cat and see what happens, optical illusion! There isn't any way that it would pull easier thru same material! Looks also cat is sitting with small layer of dirt over hard shell! I've ripped material with Komatsu about same size as a D9 and it wouldn't handle hard shale with 3 shanks

Yeah im sorry but that cat is cutting solid rock. You can see the rock smoke coming out of the ground. And can see the blade can not get all the way down because of the rock.

Will give the komatsu pulled hard, I will always run a cat over a komatsu anyday, operator comfort. . Komotsu, has such jerky equipment. I will ALWAYS be a CAT guy.

Doesn’t mean it’s better then a CAT. Just because those final drives are good now doesn’t mean they aren’t taking a beating trying to move faster then what an average machine should move at a set pace. Not to mention the CATs final drives aren’t working as hard to move at a night speed while pulling a ripper.

I've heard over and over from guys In the industry, when it comes to parts availability, downtime, repairs, lifetime use, it isn't Komatsu. They rip well. That's it.

i agree a komatsu 155 outrip a cat D 8 cat is balanced and komatsu weight is att the rear . but this comparison is not fair , the cat is at the top of the hill where there is no soft soil on top of the harder material . cat is in the hard rocks . so please compare apple with a apple

There is a difference in the length of the Rippers. One had three that was shorter. The other one had one that was longer. Grabbing into heavy Rock. That's the difference. And at the end of the day it really didn't matter. One of them tears up big rock. And the other one digs up surface rocks. Totally different Rippers

I have both of theses at my work. My brand new Komatsu is terrible. Overheats a lot Can’t take the work load for a 8 hour shift. It gets wash daily. Trying to help it stay cool.

The Komatsu has obviously wider tracks. Less slippage but far harder on those expensive undercarriages. Also a newer machine by 2-1/2 decades.
