This is the non-standard death music. This one only plays for - The Beast's curse takes effect - The Lord of the Dead kills you - Getting chucked in the castle's dungeons without any means of escape

This should have been the Regular Combat theme like it was in the SNES version imo. It gets me pumped.

[touches the evidence lady one too many times] *You have now entered the Criminal Justice Zone!* [shoots the dog in the park] *Animal control is NOT your job!* It just wouldn’t be a Sierra point-and-click adventure if it wasn’t absolutely jam-packed with ways for your character to DIE (or otherwise lose the game), now, would it? 🤣

Still creeps me out. Perfectly captures the feeling of "You're not supposed to be here and fatal consequences await you should you be caught."

Another instance of serious mood whiplash in this game. We go from the musak playing in the rest of the Social Services building and even Luella's office, but we go to get a closer look at her desk? Suddenly we're hit with this intense and sinister track.

This is the part of the game where it went completely off the rails. It turned from a police investigation game into just a straight up Sierra Adventure Game(TM). I mean, lassoing the dog at Griffith Park and then get led across half of LA to the alley behind the Third Eye Theater? Proceeding to force his way into the building and up into the apartment while using a jury rigged 180 degree mirror made up of a drum stick, super glue, and a broken piece of a car door mirror? Going in alone with absolutely no backup and no informing his superiors about the situation? Utterly ridiculous. A realistic ending would have been Carrey leaving the Third Eye Theater after the dream and informing Lt. Block about Thurman, what he's learned, and his suspicions. Enough to get a search warrant and to get assistance from SWAT, the raid resulting from which would have caught Thurman red handed and thus he wouldn't be sneaking up and dry gulching Carrey. Frankly, it could have made a great cross-over with Police Quest SWAT as a mission. Ah well, enough ranting on my part. lol.

One of the biggest instances of mood whiplash in this game was hearing this track when you're in Griffith Park and then automatically switching to that tense and sinister track when you examine the crime scene around the tree.

The Bandcamp and Patreon versions come with a track-by-track commentary written by myself and Neal Grandstaff. I didn't copy them all over into the comments. In this case... "this was specifically composed to be used for the death sequence when hit and killed during the gunfight outside the burned out building."

The best tracks in this game are the ones the give you a real sense of unease and even fear. All these years later and certain tracks from this game like this one still manage to evoke those feelings, I felt as a young kid playing this game. When you get knocked out by Thurman after turning on your flashlight in the theater closet scared the absolute crap out of me as a kid the first time I played through it. For a while afterwards whenever I played it again I made it a point to shut my eyes right before I turned on the flashlight.

The Patreon and Bandcamp version of the soundtrack comes with a track-by-track commentary. In this particular case there were only "some minor alterations", that I apparently didn't even specifically note in the commentary.

I don't understand downvotes and only very few views, this piece is wonderfully done, it's arranged the way it still keeps those old Warcraft wibes but I imagine it being used in some great 90-s fantasy anime

I am surprised myself as lack of views. I'm guessing no one is aware of it, so no one is searching for it? Share it all around, please! (Non-sax alternate version eventually coming too). Note: This piece was actually arranged and recorded in the 90s about the time rest of the MIDI versions were created, so that definitely makes sure it has authentic retro vibes.
