Hey Zane, unfortunately we are based in South Africa, therefore I'm not entirely sure of who is part of the sailing community there. Could you not ask the local Hobie Dealer for further information? If you have any further Queries you welcome to ask too!

Hey i just bought a Tiger, are there any forums / chat groups on set up, tuning and how to get the best performance from these cool boats? Zane.

Epic! Nicely done. But how come the mast just dropped itself like that? Damage from Wave sailing? Curious to find out!
@HobiesaZa5 жыл бұрын
Hey Oliver, sorry the reply is late but the mast drop was due to a damaged side stay. Glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Cheers
@CharlesSavvy6 жыл бұрын
Hey, that is a nice video. Now that I see it again, the Vaal dam is actually a great place to sail, so flat around, you get good wind, without trees interfering with wind flow. And it is big enough, but not huge, so you don't get the 5 foot choppy wave action, like on the great lakes.

How do you make the boards stay up so well? Mine just fall down so often
@HobiesaZa6 жыл бұрын
Hyper Goat try to adjust the rubber clamps around the dagerboard to fit more tightly around it,this will help reduce the dagerboards from slipping. Hope that helps

What measurement did you do on the riders.
@HobiesaZa6 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean by 'measurement'?
@larrybyrne44676 жыл бұрын
Hobie Cat Class Association look at the 13 second part of the video. I always have trouble getting my rudders right.
@HobiesaZa6 жыл бұрын
Hi Larry, Try measure from one trailing edge to the other trailing edge and record that measurement. Measure from one leading edge to the other leading edge. Usually start with getting both measurements(Leading and Trailing) to be equal, i.e the rudders are parallel, otherwise start experimenting maybe with a slight toe in, such that the leading edges distance is slightly less than the trailing edge. Do you have particular Weather helm or Lee helm issues?

Absolutely loved your video. This is what I wanted to do with my son also. We did have a 16ft Hobie, it was great fun with my young son at the time. My work accident now means the closest I will get to sailing again is via these vids. My medical condition means I cannot be "fixed" and further, due to chronic pain any time I am "vertical" means I forced to spend 99% of time laying down. After 37 operations nothing can Improve me further. My advice to anyone reading this; get out there and enjoy sailing while you can. At least I can (via youtube) still "go sailing", thanks so much for sharing as it means a lot to me. :)

Bloody good advice Martin!! I want to enjoy this with my young son too. I am getting my maricat going again, and wondering for the life of me, how I ever stopped using it in the first place. I have a different story in that first I stopped riding my bicycle to work every day, and then everything slowly un-ravelled and I put on weight and stopped enjoying life. Then 5 years later I started riding my bicycle to work again, 25km return each day bar none, my energy came back, and now I am replacing the slipper springs on the boat trailer. Good luck Martin, have you watched "The fountain of youth?" Great sailing vid. Cheers, Shaun
