Had a 2 door '67, briefly - first car I bought myself for $500. Great car, sadly managed to roll it less than 2 years in. Would be fun to restore, and electrify, one, so that its style could be appreciated well into the future. Those slant 6's were solid engines, though, so I'd drive it as is, for a. while, before doing that.

These were police cars here in South Afica in the late 60's and early 70's. They served the police well in flying squad ( quick response) duties and traffic police pursuit cars. Very smooth, fast and reliable. They could handle the myriad of dirt roads in the country areas at the time.

Cool truck. That slant 6 is a 225/3.7 litre. Rated at 125 hp. I used to own a 1985. It had 318/5.2 litre V8, rated at 140 hp. Sold her in 2008. She just had too many things wrong with her and I'm no mechanic, even though I took courses in high school. I miss her. She was still a good truck and could tow my trailer to the lake and back without problems. Those Magnum engines you're talking about, were introduced in 1992. The V6 is rated at 180 hp, although the later ones were reduced to 175 hp, due to emission control standards. I don't get why Dodge didn't keep making the straight 6. They could've just updated it with Magnum parts and it would still be as powerful as the V6. Straight 6s and V12s are known to be the smoothest running engines there are. The truck I drive now, is a 1997 Dodge Ram. She has 318/5.2 litre Magnum V8, rated at 220 hp and is much better for towing. One thing I don't understand is why there would be a slant 6 in a full sized pickup. The Cummins B Series Diesel is a straight 6, but not slanted and is bigger. For a car a slant 6 makes sense, but on truck that seems kind of weird. The 318/5.2 V8, is known to be the best engine Dodge ever made, even to this day.

Thanks for the info! I love these old Dodges too. I now have a 318 V8 equipped B350 Van and is it ever smooth, economical, and torquey while pulling the loaded up van

I'm glad you posted this video. I recently bought an '87 b250 ram van with the 225 and its a ton of fun to drive. I think the only mods that I'll make on it are electronic ignition and eventually go fuel injected. That's a rad truck you've got! Keep that baby around as long as you can 👍

Might be sun damage. Rubber and plastic are very susceptible to damage from UV light which can cause them to crack at the microscopic level, that can cause the appearance of yellowing. It may be that the way you park allows more light on one tire. Try this method as it is quite safe and non-destructive to the rubber, all it's doing is scrubbing off the surface scum that collects on the tire. Then you can finish by sealing the tire with a rubber and vinyl protector

Forgive an uninformed Yank here, but what was the price of gas at that Petro Canada station you passed on your drive around?
@Liam8488
@Liam8488 5 жыл бұрын
I don't remember what the prices were when I filmed this but here in Saskatchewan they commonly float between $1 CAD and say $1.25 CAD per liter. As of very recently the Federal Government imposed a Carbon Tax on the province of Saskatchewan. The province of Alberta is again challenging the tax and as such they pay about 90 cents per liter

I just looked again and it was $1.029 😄 big difference! BTW I liked your truck & video. I have a 2008 Ram 2500, but it’d be nice to also have an older 1st generation one with a slant 6 as a daily driver because my ‘08 with the HD suspension rides as rough as a plank on skateboard wheels and the 5.7 Hemi gets terrible gas mileage.

Hi, nice ride around town; good to see this still running. We had these style Dodges in the military and I enjoyed driving them. That era of slant sixes through the 1980's were only around 90 horsepower; really detoxed and detuned from their earlier 6's and v8's even because of Detroit's emphasis on emissions reduction and the gas milage wars then. But still a very capable truck for everyday driving and light use and with good care, they just lasted and lasted. Thanks for showing it!

Mines an 86 shortbed d150, which came with the 5.2 V8 and was later engine swapped with another 318 from 1973, mine has no rust except on the top of the drip rail, one small crack on the very top but its still not terrible. Very nice truck, maybe if you can, stick a V8 in it and make it a lifted monster
