I used to listen to RNI and they played some good music and it was refreshing to listen to another radio station other than R1 and the rest Happy memories

Google Translate gives 'ZWO' as 'TWO' in German ... could be that the station was Swiss-owned and the person speaking is a Swiss-German speaker ... it's similar to the dialect of German spoken in Alsace in France and is considered to be almost a 'dialect' of German which in some respects is quite different from standard modern German.

@W. W. An interesting idea and you are probably right ... if there's such a danger of confusing 'Zwei' and 'Drei' in noisy surroundings it might be a good idea to use 'Zwo' all the time instead of 'Zwei' ... 'Zwei could become 'redundant'.

@W. W. That's very interesting so thank you for the information ... so I presume 'Zwo' is just for speaking in noisy situations and would not be used when writing Germn unless you were writing dialogue or conversation ... like when writing a book for instance . " ... he shouted Zwo" ?
