There are so many good tips here and the render is BEAUTIFUL. So WHY would you not render out EXR for editing? Smaller head scratching moments were measuring focal distance instead of just using the eye dropper, and manually inputting sun details instead of using the Sun Position addon
@coral_lab
@coral_lab Күн бұрын
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! I didn't export as EXR because: 1- AgX does a great job compressing dynamic range and 2- I knew beforehand that I didn't want to do extensive editing. I typically use higher quality exports for compressing highlights or recovering dark shadows, but often opt for 16-bit PNGs to save disk space. If a render requires EXR, I adjust lighting instead. This is based on my experience as an architectural visualization artist; I'm sure VFX artists find EXR useful. I measure focal distance in Blender's camera as I do with a real camera, as I enjoy real-life photography as well. Lastly, I avoid using add-ons for every minor task, including the sun addon. Thanks again!

Great video! How did you exclude window material during the material override part?
@coral_lab
@coral_lab 2 күн бұрын
I didn't do it because there's no glass! However, you can exclude objects using the override feature: first, select the object you want to exclude, go to the Object tab, then to Relations, and set the Pass Index to 8 (or any other number higher than 0). Next, in your override material setup, create a Mix Shader node connected to the Material Output node. Connect your Principled BSDF to the first Shader input of the Mix Shader and create a Transparent BSDF connected to the second Shader input. Now, add an Object Info node and a Math node (set to Compare). Connect the Object Index output to the first value of the Math node. Set the second value of the Math node to 8 (matching the Pass Index of the object you want to exclude). Connect the output of the Math node to the Fac input of the Mix Shader. This setup compares the Pass Index to the value you've set. When they match, it outputs a 1. The Mix Shader (that receives values from 0 to 1) then makes the second shader 100% visible (Transparent BSDF) and the first one 0% visible (Principled BSDF). I hope this explanation helps! I'll make sure to demonstrate this in an upcoming tutorial. Thank you!

Hello! I want to ask something strange to hear. Why people do architecture in 3D? And what is your ultimate goal of archviz?
@coral_lab
@coral_lab 4 күн бұрын
That's a fair question! I would say the main reason is that it allows us to see how the project will look before investing large amounts of money and time. Floor plans and elevations are not enough to truly visualize the project. Architects, interior designers, and constructors want to check their projects, and real estate agents need images to convince property buyers and investors. At least this has been my experience after working 15 years in the architecture visualization industry. Thank you!

Very beautiful and attractive please share breakdown for render and composition. Because I get flickering effect in my animation sequences. Thank you
@coral_lab
@coral_lab 21 күн бұрын
Thank you. Render settings for animation starts at 07:56. If those values still produce noise flickering in your animation, you can lower your noise threshold to 0.002 and increase the Max Samples to 1024, at the expense of rendering time. If those values still produce noise flickering in your animation, you can lower your noise threshold to 0.002 and increase the Max Samples to 1024, at the expense of rendering time. Keep in mind there are other factors that produce noise, such as lighting through glass materials, very dark scenes, and incorrect materials (wrong albedo values, i.e., below 0.04 or above 0.85). However, I will revisit this topic in upcoming tutorials.

Nice result! How did you get such strong contrast with AgX?
@coral_lab
@coral_lab 23 күн бұрын
Thank you very much! I haven't done anything else that you can't see in this tutorial. The strong contrast is because I used an overcast sky, so there isn't strong sunlight inside the interior. Also, all the materials in the interior are quite dark!
@Frigus3D-Art
@Frigus3D-Art 23 күн бұрын
Low contrast is mostly a result of that your lights are way too weak and therefore you have a lack of contrast between your highlights and shadows. For direct sunlight turn your sinlight to 450 strenght and turn down your exposure to 0.0x in your film settings. Suddenly you have your contrast
@sinisaslovenec2408

@@coral_lab I see, makes sense. Looks very natural. The reason I'm asking is because I tried to achieve nice contrast with bright space but same approach doesn't work. I always have to tweak global contrast with curves.

I don't want to say it's better, but I prefer DaVinci Resolve over Premiere Pro for post-processing. The UI and capabilities of DaVinci Resolve are great. Do you replug the textures manually or?...whats your technique?

@@ajicamlad Hi, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video, thank you! Regarding your question: I forgot to clarify that I always rework the textures of the furniture I download (I don't usually use the provided textures, but instead use other textures from the sites I also mentioned). In the video, you can see me importing them with textures because they were already created by me for other projects inside Blender. Not only that, but most of the time the models come in 3ds Max format, so you will need to open them in 3ds Max (I'm a long-time user) and export them as fbx. Many times, you will also need to re-mesh, both automatically and manually. Despite this, those sites are great due to the quantity and good quality design of the available furniture. If you are familiar with design houses, you can also sign up on their websites and download their 3D models. Usually, I know the brand or model names of the furniture I want to use for my interiors, so I can specifically search for them. Thanks!
