Got one of these too, the trigger has gone all floppy and stays on when I put in a battery, plus if I put it on a water source I get nothing so I'm guessing that rod came off plus mabey other stuff with the button not sure but in the middle of getting it replaced though ryobi

It is a shame, I do like Ryobi products. Needless to say they will replace it! Clearly some rouge units will get pass QA, I have had no issues with my replacement, maybe they have improved one or two weak points 🤔

For the benefit of future searches- I had this issue and managed to fix it, although I would contact ryobi before proceeding as it is always better to get it replaced under warranty. The part in his hand at 17:43 has bearings inside which should be packed with grease but are not, that is where the rust is coming from. The part is push fit into the black plastic. Carefully with a screwdriver leaver it up and the grey metal part will come out. You will se there are several exposed race bearings, all should move freely. Find the one that isn't moving and through a combination of penetrating fluid, heat and brute force get it so it wiggles then ease it free. I gave mine a good clean, a whizz with the electric drill to make sure it spun freely then re packed the bearings with lots of grease. Incidentally mine had an additional fault where the positive wire for the battery connect was only resting on so I re-soldered that, might be worth checking yours while your in there. Reassembled and it's been working since. I have no idea how long this fix will last- the rust must have come from somewhere, presumably a ball bearing, so it may die again in the future. Unfortunately there is no way I could see just to replace the bearing, the entire part (which is unique to this device) would need replaced.

@@grandadtoptips no worries at all- I'm still going to try and get mine replaced anyway under warranty as I think it being jammed will have damaged the motor and like I say, something rusted in the bearings to make it seize- how did you contact them to initiate the process can I ask? Was it just through their contact us page?

@@ShipwreckedMonki yep just phoned them up, I think it's a known fault. The replacement came next day. I did need to fill in some forms and provide proof of purchase. I did make a quick video called Ryobi warranty skip to 2:10 time stamp

I have one at present that doesn't seem to want to spray water, sound like it's firing a OK but just nothing on the water side when it comes to passing through and spraying. Don't suppose you'd have any ideas from what you saw having this in pieces 🤔

First things first, contact Ryobi and get it replaced. If you remove the hose, place your finger over the hole where the hose fits onto the "gun" , pull the trigger is there a vacuum? Now don't expect much but it should be enough for you to feel. If nothing then you will need to look deep into the unit. If you do have a vacuum, then check the rubber seal for the hose. You could place the bucket on a wall, suck on hose to give a syphon, before you get a mouth full of water, connect to gun. Keep gun below the bucket, does this work.

Unfortunately I didn't, the corrosion was too bad and wouldn't create a vacuum. However Ryobi replaced it , excellent service
