I've listened to this song for many years by these sister and by others as well. But just this week I noticed the following: ... close by the church in the valley, Lies one that I loved so well, Disturb not her rest in the vale. There close by the side of that loved one... When farewell hymns shall be chanted, I shall rest by her side in the tomb. These two stanzas at least cannot be true for any of us today. I wonder if they were even true for the composer or this was just some wonderful fantasy. It means a lot to sing with understanding.
