I dont see a dimmer on your website. Where can we buy one ?

Unfortunately, right now we do not sell dimmers (but we are working on that). We bought the one seen in the video on Amazon. www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Wireless-Grounded-Dimmable-Tungsten/dp/B0BF5KW4YN/ref=sr_1_38?crid=5AI7BPRS0ULX&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.1s_RS6DmXJhp7WY_BwSczFBK0xtfcBEIXFQ_wNWTQt_NKO35K0Sv7HyzejSHRdqmWkACFGq184tRkKihillBh_sTLxm-lHZmcHkaIJAwdH44R64CDZNdEiu4BSd5JOZuPNwsUfPhvm96jCGRWM9Q7tmT2KXe4U5vAs28Su9_LNStwzlFwyCjmRa_wLACgkQSpQ2u4dHEGagwaujX84siJDvDX15o97Y11kfiXFXl-m0XZaf3vcIGr4usQz4J1Yn2NinP6gtcpmLSTpCSSsNjHF5VMDcbHhGDVAITpwYdt2Q.F_c08cj4RcKWQvjhRlbpTZsNmp2jEWgHp0mcq_d9tpk&dib_tag=se&keywords=plug%2Bdimmer%2Bwith%2Bremote%2Boutdoor&qid=1732798284&sprefix=plug%2Bdimmer%2Bwith%2Bremote%2Boutdoor%2Caps%2C169&sr=8-38&th=1

Can you comment on the number of articles I have seen saying to limit the length of SPT1 wire to 250 ft or 250 bulbs, regardless of bulb type? I am looking to light 1000' of fence line and would like to use opticore c9 bulbs, but unsure if I can truely use 1000' of 18 gauge wire from a single plug.

Hi! If you're unsure about a specific installation situation, it's best to consult an electrician. They can give you answers based on your exact conditions.

I bought glass c9 lights. It’s recommend I use two 24ft strings per outlet. If I ran this set up for 8 strings. could I add an inline tab after every two strings with out overloading the one string “lamp” cord? 😅

Good effort! Surely many will want to leave the lights year-round. Branches and tangles may be more challenging...maybe easier to just hang lights down the trunk.

So, I have a question…is there a way to take a strand of steady lights and turn them into twinkle lights? Like by adding a remote or maybe a special bulb or something? We just bought one of those new fancy trees from Home Depot and didn’t realize that this particular one, although fuller than the others, which I love, only has steady lights, which are quite bright! So I’m trying to figure out if I can buy something to turn them into twinkle lights or even something to dim them?
@ChristmasLightsEtc7 күн бұрын
Some incandescent mini light sets come with a special bulb you can change out at the beginning of the string to make a section of the lights flash on and off. The owner’s manual or manufacturer should be able to tell you what kind of lights your tree has, as well as whether they are remote controllable or dimmable. If they’re dimmable, you’ll probably need to plug them into a separate dimmer switch. As a last resort, you could just leave the tree unplugged and string a new strand of lights through it to get the look you want. If you decide to go that route, consider the SoftTwinkle lights in this video: they look amazing!

2:03. My dream home and dream location. I’m saving up to switch over all my cheap box store Christmas lights over to Opticore for next year. Want to learn how to make a Christmas light show to Carol of the Bells. Do you think it’s worth spending extra for the STP2 wire vs STP1?
@ChristmasLightsEtc8 күн бұрын
A Christmas light show to Carol of the Bells sounds amazing! Share a video with us if you do it! As for SPT1 or SPT2, unless you live in a place with extremely cold Christmas seasons, SPT1 should be fine. If you have any doubt, it's worth consulting an electrician with specifics of your lighting plan and location to be sure.

I would love to see these lit up side-by-side for comparison! Kringle Traditions says they're 50 lumens for their C9s rather than 25 lumens, so the brightness and diffusion would be nice to see.

Just bought but wondered if sp2 self heals at all? Planning on c9 roofline and was wondering how planned I need to be for project. I really want to use as extension cords around yard but the squirrles/animals chew so much of our green wires from lawn decor I worry they will chew this.
@ChristmasLightsEtcАй бұрын
Squirrels can definitely be a challenge. Unfortunately, they'll chew almost anything, including wires and extension cords. You can search online for protective measures to try, like repellant sprays that are safe to use around electrical wires, or protective coverings. This zip wire doesn't self-heal.

What does the energy star mean? Does it affect the brightness of the lights? 😊
@ChristmasLightsEtc2 ай бұрын
Hi, great question. This is from the Energy Star website: "ENERGY STAR® is the government-backed symbol for energy efficiency. The blue ENERGY STAR label provides simple, credible, and unbiased information that consumers and businesses rely on to make well-informed decisions. ENERGY STAR is administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. EPA sets energy efficiency specifications and those that meet them can choose to display the ENERGY STAR logo."

The problem with the complete C9 and C7 light sets sold in stores is they typically only use 20 gauge wire, which means they can’t handle much current and cap out at around 60-75 incandescent bulbs. With the stringers you buy separately, they typically use 18 gauge wire, so they can handle a lot more lights and you can have long stretches of lights without extension cords everywhere.

GFCI receptacles do not offer overcurrent protection, they are not fused. They detect faults and open the circuit when current isn't returning the same amount. Zip plugs should always be used with a fused male plug. It's stupid they don't sell them as much as unfused. The spt-1 and spt-2 wires are both 18 gauge I believe. This means they could melt before your home's breakers/fuses stop the overcurrent.
@ChristmasLightsEtc8 ай бұрын
Part of the customizable approach is calculating how much current is anticipated under normal conditions and making sure that amount is less than the rated current of the wire being used. Fused plugs are not specified because the total current of the installation can vary based on the number of lamps and length of wire used. Fused plugs can be used if the load on the installation is less than the available fuse ratings in the plugs. Otherwise, for larger installations, inline fuses can be used within 3' of the plug to prevent any overcurrent issues. If any ground fault occurs, the GFCI outlet or breaker will trip and open the circuit. It's up to the installer to make sure the load on the wire is less than the rated amperage of the wire and overcurrent precautions are implemented. GFCI plugs are not fused or handle overcurrent protections. However they trip upon a ground fault: when the amount of current returning is less than the amount supplied, which means there's electrical current taking some other route.

To think someone made a whole video about how to wrap lights around something and the video basically tell you, you take lights and wrap makes makes me giggle
@robloxvids2233 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's way harder than this. You need to plan it out first. Eyeball how long the branch is to know how long of a cord you need. With an average wrap, expect to lose 10-15% of the cord length. Then, after careful planning and calculation, somehow wrap the tree without falling off a ladder or out of the tree, all while your wife stands down in the yard with her arms folded telling you you're doing it wrong.

hahaha. I'm the wife and I'd be the one in the tree...my husband, the engineer, would be the one on the ground criticizing because he can't think outside the box and firstly-doesn't think lights should go on any tree but a pine type tree, and not outdoors but the indoor christmas tree ; D. But my thought was always going from outer part of the branch in-so you work your way down to the center and then down the trunk....wouldn't that be easier so you can adapt when you get to the most accessible portion? Also, can the lights be left on the trees year round? I know from experience lights on furniture and fences and such won't last because the sun dry rots them quickly....but the trees in bloom would protect the exposure...no? this is my first time stringing trees I've always wanted done
