I have been sublimating for years. A variety of products that never let me down. Every so often I say to myself "let's try mugs again". I crack open the mug press, buy a box of mugs and start testing. A few hours later my heart is broken and so are a dozen poorly printed mugs. They are the one thing I cannot get my head around. I have owned multiple mug presses, tried various mugs and papers and can never turn out an acceptable mug. So frustrating.

Hi I notice you’ve used the Freesub ST4050 in many of your videos. Would you recommend this heat press, is yours still working and for how long you’ve owned it. Lastly would you recommend this for DTF printing as I’m worried it might not have enough pressure. Thanks for your informative videos and looking forward to your response.
@Ceramicraft4 ай бұрын
We would recommend this press for anything that requires heat and pressure, the pressure is able to be adjusted to your required setting without issue and should be fine for DTF. Our current ST4050 has been in operation for 3 years now and shows no sign of giving up!

Is there an attachment (silicone sleeve) that will allow you to do a 10 inch (25.5 cm) plate by placing it diagonally in the 3D vacuum press? Or have you advice on how to do a 10 inch plate please?
@Ceramicraft5 ай бұрын
This machine is only intended to do plates up to 8" in diameter using the accessories provided. Theoretically if it fits diagonally you could try using a shrink sleeve on a10" plate. However, as we have not attempted this ourselves we cannot recommended it, and would instead advise using the larger 3D Vacuum Press larger items.

What is the tool you are using at 1:15? Do you mind sharing a picture, name for it, or even a link? I’m not able to see it well but it looks like it is a triangle tip section that is then bent at a 90 degree angle. Am I right? (I’m legally blind with some light perception; however, my peripheral vision is horrible. With regard to my central vision, all I can see with any degree of clarity has to be a few inches from my face. The damage is the result of a retinal disease, optic nerve defect that I was born with, & my sight is further complicated due to lupus & Sjogren’s disease.)

wondering how to secure the sides, even after using that bending machine I found the sides looked like they weren't as flush and square as I'd prefer when attaching to the black plastic frame?
@Ceramicraft7 ай бұрын
This may just come down to practice. As you can see in the video no adhesives are used on the sides of the panels. Ensuring the panel is correctly positioned in the bending machine squarely in the beginning, and bending slightly beyond 90 degrees would be our best advice to get a snug fit.

Mine is not opening will this help??
@Ceramicraft8 ай бұрын
Potentially. You could easily test this just by doing the reverse of what we’ve done in the video, by instead raising the position of your adjustment knob slightly by turning it anti-clockwise. Pease note: After being clamped shut the machine's magnet will only release upon completion of the countdown, so just make sure you’re timer has counted down fully before expecting it to release. There can be a slight delay. Alternatively, there is also a manual release which can be activated by pressing the bottom most button on the controller after the machine countdown ends. If you purchased your machine from us, and are still experiencing an issue you are most welcome to send us a video of what you’re experiencing and contact us for further support.

No the can shaped ceramic money box used as the insert in the video is not available on our website. It was a sample blank that Brenda just happened to have on hand. You can substitute this for any number of things of a similar size. Blanks are a good option, as they are guaranteed to withstand the heat.

Just wondering how you make the print larger? And what program do you use please
@Ceramicraft8 ай бұрын
The design was created to scale at the same dimensions of the magnet blank and then separated into sections that would fit onto an A4 page. This design was created in Adobe Illustrator; however the same process can be replicated in a number of other programs, Affinity Designer/Photoshop etc. The main point is to start in your software with a document size that replicates the blank you’re pressing onto. Then treat it just like a reverse jigsaw puzzle, break up the full size design into smaller sections and place those onto A4 size Artboards/document pages for printing. We’ve added the pdf files for the graphic shown in the video as an example which you can now take a closer look at on our website via the magnet product page. Link is in the description. :)

When using the hollow circle with the Z part assembled, the extruded clay fails to reheal and seal. What is the solution?
@Ceramicraft8 ай бұрын
If the clay is well hydrated and has been sufficiently wedged it should self-heal as its being extruded. Sometimes a dry piece of clay or other contaminating objects that have ended up in the clay that has been loaded can cause breaks in the extrusion. So these may be things to look out for to improve your extrusions. You may find this video helpful - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIHbaKiLf9tsqqcsi=3nrO5r_31iWvXCkl

Hi, Ty for this video!! I’m curious if these plates are food safe or for decoration only? If food safe/is it also dishwasher/microwave safe? If you have any other resources that can help with making cappuccino/espresso cups and saucers, I’d love to know! Ty so much :)
@Ceramicraft8 ай бұрын
For a food contact surface to be considered food grade it must be able to be effectively cleaned, and must be made from a material that will not migrate into, contaminate or taint the food. Thus, there are many factors that contribute to whether a product can be classed as food safe. The functional integrity of the materials and quality of coatings used on the blank, the inks being used to print with and whether or not the sublimation process has been carried out correctly to ensure the ink has achieved proper adhesion to the substrate. Due to this number of variables it is advised that (when the sublimation process is carried out on a smaller scale by hobbyists etc.) products such as plates where the surface is usually eaten off and prone scratching with cutlery, are only recommended for display purposes. And products intended to be eaten from are only printed on external surfaces. As is the case with most drinkware, coffee mugs/and bowls etc. Microwave safety and suitability for use in the dishwasher should also be viewed on an individual product basis. Handwashing is generally recommended to preserve the life of your sublimation prints. However prints on certain blanks can certainly withstand several washes. Permasub ceramic coffee mugs for instance, are good for up to 3500 washes.
