This week, I’ve got three special edits for you - little Christmas presents to wrap up the year. The first one drops today, with two more coming on Wednesday and Friday. Kicking things off is my edit of a true classic: Ultra Naté - Free. I made this back in 2021, right after the lockdowns ended. My first gig back was at Mint Warehouse in Leeds, where I played at one minute past midnight on the 22nd of June as restrictions were lifted. I opened with this track that night - the message couldn’t have been more fitting. This isn’t just a straightforward edit. I treated it more like a remix, replaying all the musical parts with different synths, while keeping the original vocal and a guitar sample. It’s very much my own interpretation, and I’m really proud of how it turned out. Since then, it’s become a closing staple in my sets, and I always love playing it. I hope it brings you the same enjoyment it’s brought me. Thanks for all the love and support this year ❤ Download link is in the description.

The second release in my Archive Edit series is here, and this one takes things in a very different direction from ArchiVe001. This time, I’ve reworked Ruff Driverz - Dreaming, but the process was completely different; rather than rewriting the melodies from the original, the edit is more of a mash-up. It started with me prepping for a gig while on a train -I was searching for something in the same key to layer live in the mix, but as I had a couple of hours to kill, I decided to make something, rather than just picking a track to blend live. I layered the beats from one of my own projects with elements of Dreaming, trimming and arranging until the two felt glued together. This track holds a lot of nostalgia for me. It takes me back to a time when I was first getting into electronic music. My entry point was trance, and that unmistakable guitar hook and Spanish vocal instantly transported me to a sun-soaked beach in Ibiza. Back then, I’d never actually been-but I’d religiously read Mixmag and DJ Mag, watched Ibiza Uncovered on TV, and devoured all those Essential Ibiza mix compilations. I had this vivid, almost cinematic image in my mind of what the island would be like, and I was dreaming (🥁) of the day I’d finally be old enough to go experience it properly. Here’s your second gift from the Archive series. Hope you love it as much as the first! Download link in the description.

The final door of the ArchiVe Edits advent calendar is here, and I couldn’t be more excited to share this one with you. This track is an edit of Ruffneck Crew’s Everybody Be Somebody. I’ve always absolutely loved the vocal, and this is probably the edit I’m most excited about releasing-purely because of the reaction it’s had on the dancefloor since I made it back in the summer, and the amount of messages I’ve received asking me about it. For this one, I took more of a hybrid approach. I didn’t rewrite any of the synth work from the original record; instead, I built a completely new track around that iconic vocal. The only difference this time is the additional keys, played by the incredibly talented Thomas Gandey. There’s a section at the end of this track that still makes me smile every time I hear it-a kind of solo reminiscent of Ray Manzarek’s keyboard work on Riders on the Storm by The Doors. And that’s it-the advent calendar is complete, and all the edits are now available for download! Hit the link in my description to grab them.Thank you for all the love on this series. Archie x

This is really a masterpiece. I like this mix very much ♥... Came right on my birthday. What a pleasure. @TeaCtips - you had a question about the intro.... Well, there was a sequence sampled from the movie "Beginners" (2010) where Oliver and Hal are talking.... mixed together with a track called "Forest Drive West - Parallel Space". In the movie, this happens at timestamp 00:17:00, they're talking: The phone RINGS, wakes up Oliver, he turns on the light, answers the phone. PRE-CANCER Hal talks excitedly. OLIVER: Hello? HAL: Oliver? OLIVER: Yeah. HAL: I'm not sorry I woke you! I went to Akbar tonight. The film is thoroughly sad and funny at the same time. I can sympathise with Hal. Thank you Archie Hamilton ♥
