one of the first games i remember playing. me and my dad played the hell out of this back in the day. while this game is pretty much obsolete due to the sequels being huge improvements in almost every way, i still think this one has the best music and atmosphere in the series. the menus give such a cool and mysterious late night vibe which i think the other games lacked

Yup, sliding is pretty much the only way to get anywhere. The game becomes almost unplayable very quickly... the enemies respond to your attacks completely ignoring your hits. It's not challenging, it's repetitive as hell. There's no explanation about the leaves, picking up stuff was hit and miss... not the worst ever, but not too good.

Why does the music go so hard?

I put hundreds of hours into this. When I was in my early 20s I moved into my own place in Ottawa and all I did was play this. I eventually got the devil skyline and beat that crazy 911 turbo. I had to cheat and smash him off the walls. I gave my friend my vmu unit one time and he deleted my game save 😢
