Pre-1990 releases on VHS and Betamax copies have its original soundtrack unlike any DVD and Blu-ray releases that featured an altered soundtrack (few dialogue changes, instrumental synth songs, modern SFX). It’s like if whoever was in charge of the remastering process back in the DVD days had tried to make it sound like a Fast & Furious movie or if George Lucas came in but instead of changing the original Star Wars trilogy to integrate CGI in there where it hadn’t existed in their motion pictures, it’s with the audio. It was ridiculous. To put it in a certain scenario, if someone were to go into an art museum and replace the real Mona Lisa painting with a replica, it’s a case of destroying history to which I never appreciate.
@JCTsFascinatingHobbies5 күн бұрын
Agreed, the DVD release ruined the musical score. That was a big part of the original versions appeal. I have two Betamax copies but my first one started to degrade. I purchased the DVD version, realised it was rather disappointing so hunted down a better Betamax version to replace my original.

Great video , I’m assuming this would work using a dvr recorder to . As I still have my dvr with HDD I used to record sky tv when you used to be able through scart 10 yrs ago .
@SFtheGreat8 күн бұрын
If it has SCART output there is a good chance it will properly convert to ITU-R REC.470 signal. Though I would still prever to make a master file and then duplicate from that.

I cannot believe i just lucked up on one of these in superb condition for only $100. It doesn’t seem to like any other tape but the Panasonic SP tape that was inside it. Very strange. I’ve tried using a new VHS tape but no joy.

Such nice machines! I have an Akai VS-9500 which is based off the JVC HR-3320 (some sources say 3330 but the 3330 has more functions than the VS-9500). I changed the belts which was easier than I thought and have to replace the cassette lamp. Only the belts at the top side are a bit of a pain because of the cassette lift. I'm having a bit of a struggle getting the lift back in correctly. The gold part that sits at the back of the circuit board for ff/rw/play etc looks different in my machine. Also the previous owner said that the machine ate tapes, so I'll have to check on that as well.

This is a great way to bypass Macrovision copy protection on DVDs and VHS tapes. However I use a PC and VLC media player to record in widescreen.

I bought it with 12,000 miles on the clock and ran it up to just under 100K (I was doing a lot of driving for my job). I've always liked GM era vauxhalls and found the Vectra to be really rather good.

Assuming there has been no leakage, then will this still work with the same efficiency as originally built? I wonder if newer ones would be more energy efficient.

Great video. Thanks. Clear explanations, clear speech (which is rare these days!). Quick Q: If you're winding back the caliper piston to replace the pads, do you have a simple tip to ensure its lined up with the pins behind the pads?
@JCTsFascinatingHobbiesАй бұрын
On this style of caliper, the pads usually fit into the carrier and stay put. The caliper sliding pins can be removed and lubricated before being replaced. The caliper will slot onto the carrier and with some shuffling, can be coerced into lining up with the mounting points on the caliper.

I had a Sharp GF1740 when I was younger and just called it a Radio Cassette (as it was mono), can't say if I've ever called these either Boomboxes or G'Blasters. Something like this I'd call a Stereo Radio Cassette. According to Google the term Boombox was first used by the New York Times in 1981, so maybe it was more an American term that eventually made it over to the UK.

I bought one in 96 or later and it was wood. I still have it, but I have not used it in 20 years. I switched it on yesterday and it was not working. The red light showed. I wiggled the float thing and it made no difference. Do you think these have any value these days for spares or repair? It seems such a shame to toss it.
@JCTsFascinatingHobbiesАй бұрын
I’m not sure to be honest. I replaced the fan motor on mine and it now lives in the conservatory. I find that the water container needs a jiggle and a slow close of the door when emptying it, else the light will flash or stay red.

I have had this happen before. When refitting the motor, both tape lacing poles need to be held back with an elastic band, this ensure that the motor goes in with the deck in fully unlaced mode.

Thank you. This greatly helped me replace the rollers on my Beko DCU8230. However, I did not remove the heater or any electric cables at all. That was overkill for me. @19:46, all you need is to remove the bottom 4 screws that go into the chasis. + two top corners. This will help you push the drum back about a 1-2cm or so. That's all is needed to remove the existing rollers and put a new one in!

Thanks for continuing the ECU video, when you mentioned varnish, it reminded me of an old radio circuit board. Hello I'm facing a issue with the gearbox with my friends 1993 xj40. The car tends to lash when costing after 80kmph. This only happens when i remove the accelertor pedal. We have changed the transmission fluid, filter and checked all the bushes. But still the issue persist after 80kmph. Today we checked all the mounts and found the gearbox mount to have a bit of a play. If you could share your email i could send you the video of the distance the mount travels when jacked. Also please share your suggestions about the lashings. Thanks in advance
@JCTsFascinatingHobbiesАй бұрын
Hello, I think my email address is in the information about my channel. Not sure I can post it here without it being removed. Is the lash a kind of 'thunk' noise when you lift off the throttle?
@mfaaiz3770Ай бұрын
Yes, it's a thunk noise when I lift of the throttle only when at 80kmph +. I couldn't find your mail, but the gearbox mount when we jacked the car from the transmission the transmission moved about 1.5 to 2 cm without any resistance.

Cool. How did you correct the colour changing to blue on one side? Purity rings or yoke/coil positioning? I've got an IBM CGA monitor that has the same whole screen colour offset, going evenly from blue to green slightly, not in the corners or anything. Thanks!
@JCTsFascinatingHobbies2 ай бұрын
The main fix was the positioning of the scan coils. The purity rings were set by generating a dot pattern on my pattern generator and getting them positioned so that all dots showed up as white and not a split of RGB. Be very careful though, due to the high voltages involved. I had the set plugged into an isolation transformer which reduces the shock risk.
