I realized that my experience with the tracks ands strats from the original SNES game (it’s my favorite video game of all time and I’ve been playing it since I’m a little kid) helped me find moderate success in the early stages of F-Zero 99, but I’ve fallen behind in skill level as people got more experience. I’m trying to learn new strategies to close that skill gap a bit.

Been playing this game for over 30 years. Only let off the throttle 1 time for as long as it takes to make the turn. You dont spam the throttle as shown.

oh, i always just called this spam turning, since i just spam the accelerate button while doing turns. this is also viable for blue falcon and wild goose, especially after the balance patches in 99. Fox, not so much... your just better off doing the lightest turns or just quick, unpowered turns.

After playing for a few months, honestly, learn the basics, and get racing. Practice and muscle memory are the biggest factors in my opinion.

I know I’m too late for this one, but I just found out that the exhaust thrusts from the ships are a lot different than the normal ones. I hope they make more of these in the future as well as new machines too.

1) yes and no… Think of 8 points in time (or 8 8th notes). Each dot is 2 points in time (or a 4th note). And go is rhe last point. For Stingray you wait until 3 point have passed which is shortly after the 2nd dot appears. For Falcon it’s 7 points, which is shortly after the last dot appears. For goose it’s 6. For fox it’s 8. These are just relatively close to their actual times, but if you try to always peas gas on the third dot with every vehicle you won’t get a boost with 2 and will stall out with another. 2) there are some machines that are better and worst dependent on if it’s a cup, single race, which track, which cup, and more… Falcon is hands down the worst vehicle overall, but it’s not bad in classic. Foxes and geese are the two best in cups. Foxes are the best on single short tracks, stingrays are the best on longer tracks and tracks that have a lot of turns that lose speed.

Blast turning definitely works differently in the GBA games than here. I tried playing the original F-Zero as if it were Maximum Velocity, and it did not go well.

Even though I never win a GP, I still play for the fun of it. I usually end up placing 4th-10th on the main races and finish with a total at 10-15th place, I still have a good time. But you did give me a better insight on when and how to effectively make use of sky road

I can’t even get consistent height on my jumps. Does pressing up on the d pad make the jump last longer? When should you press down after your jump to maintain speed?

A bit disappointed by the fact that they only gave us one Backdrop for the player card. I wish the devs could have given us backdrops of the frozen league tracks. Would’ve also been cool if they award players a badge for finishing in first place in the frozen league. but like you said, they made everything easily obtainable so that all players can have a chance to own everything from this event before it ends. something like a frozen league badge would be pretty difficult to obtain. I think they could have at the very least reward us with a backdrop of Frozen Silence, man that would’ve been a sick backdrop.

So this game still has a lot of success after 3 months, does anyone know if there are plans beyond patch 1.15, where we are now. I mean if they added new tracks and cars, it would really not be a lot of work on their behalf, and keep it fresh… has anyone heard if they plan on doing more, or do they consider it done and move to the next one?

While the winter update is good an all my issue is that players seem to be more aggressive on these tracks in terms of bumping and yes I know that playing aggressive is part of the game.

There are two reason this works so much better for the Stingray than everyone else that I know of. The first reason is that the Stingray looses a lot of turning speed when it is at top speed compared to just slightly below top speed. IRL, the faster you go, the wider the turn (once the limiting factor is friction and not your wheels that is), but in a videogame based on the snes, this was too complicated so instead this game makes a compromise where instead of continuously getting wider turns as you go faster, you get wider turns at different speed intervals. It just happens to be so that one speed interwall is Stingray top speed and faster. As such, you just need to go a fraction of a km/h slower to suddenly turn much better. The other vehicles simple aren't goign to go at Stingray top speed. The second reason is that the Stingray looses the least amount of speed for letting go of the gas.

Stingray player here, since the SNES era. If you are a Stingray main, know that you are playing the long game. What I mean is that, due to the slow acceleration, you have to be patient and wait for your machine to go over 450, and then, you can outrun ANYTHING (except for other Stingrays). While crushing into other cars may not slow you as much, crashing into the borders, grazing them, and rough terrain can do a number on your velocity. Learn each track by heart, and only use boost if it's really necessary.

I won my first top 3 race on death wind, and it proves to be one of my least favorite maps still. I like how it’s simple but I really don’t like the pull that the wind has. My favorite map will always be port town or sand ocean.

I find that with golden fox, the best way is to wait until you come out of a turn to accelerate, and boost so you get up to your peak speed as soon as possible.

As Mute City I Is an easy track, i recommand using skyway as fast as you can if you are not among the firsts, so you'll get more skyay Two Skyways are better than only one more efficient one

not only do they need more unlockables but they need 99 star levels. it's painful being lvl99 and doing lucky numbers and exp pts getting eaten. also this update changed collisions, as they are more dramatic now. have you noticed it?

Wait wait... we're just glossing over not getting any new tracks ever? Why not? When was this announced? There are a TON of easy ways to quickly get out new content. There are the satellite expansion tracks, there are a couple of GBA titles to pull from.... sure, it takes a bit of work but we're just copying something over... just like they did the original tracks. That has to make it quicker (aka cheaper) than generating content from scratch so that's not asking for much.

I think it was smart to make the rewards easy to get. Need the casual side of the fanbase to enjoy the game so it looks worth it for Nintendo to make more F-Zero games. The update itself is really fun. Kind of wish I could unlock reindeer antlers to put on my machine. The boost effect is really cool.

As we have been witnessing from the Datamining of F~Zero 099, it is clear to us that the base game (in this case, Revision 00) is complete, which is what Nintendo truly meant about there being no more "new" courses added and why we are beginning to witness Seasonal Venues and resources in a similar vein to how Angry Birds Friends did so during its run; throughout the Winter, I would not be surprised if we get a Frozen Queen and King League in a respective Mid~January and Mid~February timeslot, with an eventual Remix League that combines elements from multiple venues at once (Death Wind 0I Remix combining elements from White Land II's layout is incredibly dastardly, but it delivers a teaser of what's to come), NST truly wants to make sure that the player base gets everything possible out of this project with minimal redundancy and I've a feeling that we'll keep getting new material to the point where BS F~Zero Grand Prix II: Soundlink's material becomes mandatory to implement if it wants to get the most out of bridging the player bases north of a year in and continue to enhance the overall Replay Value when the time comes for an eventual Domestic Release on Cartridge.
