the book " the world is a mirror " gets into this topic , your chosen words , like you mention in the video , are like loaded guns , so many people have no clue the negative programs that they fuel with there words . a simple change of a word can have a massive impact on what you attract .

I need to learn to hold my tears in until an appropriate moment. My mom believes I cry on purpose I cannot change her I have accepted that therefore I have to learn to hide/ cover my emotions. Any advice is welcome. I can not be told I am using my tears as manipulation again.

I appreciate this video. Coming from a different angle, I feel like when hierarchies exist, there's a tendency towards zero-sum thinking, i.e. in an unbalanced relationship, one person is more, the other is less. The one who's less will often times be taken in the direction of negative thought spirals, partly because it has been reinforced socially. Situations like this where there's too much belief in what others make of us are dangerous; we're not living our fullest lives from our truths for ourselves. I absolutely believe we own our ability to create (positive) realities through the stories we tell to ourselves and others. At the same time, I think there's a societal responsibility to deconstruct hierarchical modes of thinking that perpetuate inequality and potentially low self-esteem. We can certainly start with ourselves though. Hopefully, others can be inspired by us and the way we carry ourselves - that aura is invaluable.
@OdysseyHumanАй бұрын
Hierarchies only have power when you give them power and play into the game. No one can "make" you think anything. You have total dominion over that realm, but it's a power you have to claim for yourself. Even without hierarchies, people would still look at other people and compare themselves. Circumstances could be perfect externally and folks would still do this behavior because it stems from individual interpretation.

this really helps me understand my identity a lot, I have been trying to repress tears since childhood, and I internalised my father's accusation that I was just doing it for attention
@dafedge2 ай бұрын
I am a stroke survivor who was eroniously diagnosed as depressive after a bout of crying during my hospital stay, the medication for depression enabled me to control crying but I mourn that in doing so I lost a sensitivity in myself that I miss, is this an identity I have represesed throughout my life?
@OdysseyHuman2 ай бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe, maybe not? Crying is just a habit. It can be associated with a lot of things. Most importantly, the interpretation you give it. So if you believe it's a repressed identity, it is. If you believe it's water coming out of your face and nothing more, it is. You assign all meaning. I made this video before I truly understood that power and I've since shed being HSP. I woke up to the reality that I gave that label truth and decided to stop identifying with it. So again, the answer is yours alone. 😊
@dafedge2 ай бұрын
@@OdysseyHuman yeah maybe it was just a habit, here's the problem because I internalised that boys shoouldn't cry as a maxim so I spent my life suppressing tears and this ssaw me manifest that repression my translating it into anger which franklly was an acceptable action for a male, but I now find that amger as self ddestructive, and my habit of rrepressing tears as anger has got me into hot water. I am in counselling with a counsellor I trust so I will discuss this with her but thanks for the advice and feedback, if it turns out it was just I was HSP all along I think it would help me to be able to own that and just be able to say, no this is who I am, you got a problem with it, that's a you problem

Crying literally disrupts my life
@OdysseyHuman3 ай бұрын
Crying is just water coming out of your face. It disrupts your life if you allow it to. What if you had some tear duct disorder and your eyes constantly watered? You'd just dab at them with a tissue and ignore it. Do the same thing here. It disrupts if you put lots of meaning behind it and make it a huge thing. Let it be. Just like you let burps, farts, exhaling not be a major thing...this is the same thing: a simple bodily process. Hope that helps.

Jess, I'm normally a lurker, I've commented on youtube about 4 times in the past 5-6 years. I found your channel last month when searching to cry less and found your treasure trove of videos. I've now watched 100+ of your videos and even rewatched some. I had to let you know what an impact you have, your content is worthy of millions of subscribers and I believe you'll get there at the rate you release videos. I'm also so impressed with the quality as well, many others are inconsistent in quality but you always present new information or new perspectives of common information (at least common to those in this realm of content). As someone who mostly lives in their head and often conducts thought experiments for fun, your content has brought me so much food for thought and in turn so much fun I can't thank you enough for sharing it with the public. Your providing life changing information that everyone could benefit from. Please continue to make content for as long as feels good to you, the world needs it.
