We have our second Viszla two years after losing our first. We just never thought he could be replaced. He wasn’t. But we did add a new one to our family and he has more than filled the hole in our hearts. Both on mine were and are males. The present one is blood related to the first. There is a saying the female pups love you. But the males are always ‘in” love with you. Having never owned the female I am unable to know if there is truth in this. But I can say we love both of our boys. Amazing breed in every way.

Thank you for sharing. I came from Hong Kong and my boyfriend has a lovely Vizsla it is 13 months old now. We want to start trim his nails but we don't know if this is too late to start this now. He is a sweet and hearty dog but he seems feel sensitive when we touch his nails. We are hesitate.. Pls advice.

Vivian, just take it slow and give lots of treats. Get him used to the sound of the dremel first, always with lots of love and treats. Do just a little bit and then praise like crazy. Don't force it. Most dogs get used to it when there's food involved.

This little girl was a singleton, but she was raised by her mother, grandmother and "Auntie" who all adored her. She's grown into a stunningly beautiful, well-adjusted, kind and loving "big sister" to human kids. Check out Saltivizslas.com to see more of her photos ("Harmony" is from the first Odon X Perp litter). She has 3 full siblings from a different litter.

I hope your beautiful one is thriving. I love this breed and hope to share my life with one when I have enough land and space. The artistry of vid is amazing. Wonderful heart-felt music worthy of documenting a being so special in so many ways. I would love to know the breeder if you would be so kind. Thank you so very much for posting this.

Are those dremels easy to use? I'm getting a vizsla in about a month and want the easiest way to keep the nails short. I've only used clippers and hate them bc I've cut the quick before. Thanks!

Wonderful, thank you! It is so typical of the Vizsla. There are clowns, what they do not know yet react to anything. "Oh, there was a man sitting on the course" Wonderful! There are great dogs and they work great, and ... were very well prepared!

By the time the puppies are 8 weeks old, you want to get them out of the house. They are incredibly time consuming - you can't properly raise a litter and have a full time job outside the home. It's a LOT of work if done the right way. Just make sure your girl is healthy (test hips, elbows, eyes, thyroid, etc.) and pick a great male, also tested for all the health tests, and proven as a great dog (performance and/or show) and has puppies that you like.

Oh how precious!! We are thinking of having a litter next year but I'm worried I won't be able to let any of the puppies go! Must be heart breaking. Beautiful vizsla :)

Yes, the kissy kissy method. All sweetness and positive...well, not really. At first, they fuss and squirm and I need to be very stubborn but very patient. It takes a number of sessions before they learn to relax and get their kisses. You can do it with food too, but I find that they squirm just so they can get their food. I can trim cat nails using the same method.
