Brilliant video, I have been dancing salsa intensly for the last year and this was a real eye-opener. never really understood what people meant when they said to remember to fokus on the basics

Hey guys all love from Miami , I got a question .. I’ve been using the dance dojo online program for about 3 years now . But I want to expose myself to different teachers and I love your KZbin videos so far . I’m thinking of purchasing your online program. Anyway my question is , I’ve been counting in my head for three years 123, 567 .. personally for yourself what do you count in your head ? 123, 567 or 8&123, 4567 or 8&123, 4&567

All those bands are unknown, except for "El Gran Combo". It seems that you're getting a kick back from these bands. You should've the Real Salsa Bands "Willie Rosario, Don Perignon, Tito Nieves, Frankie Ruiz" Those are the classics. Let the students know to start with slow salsa before they go to fast salsa. Tromboranga is SUPER fast salsa. They got to learn how to crawl before they can walk, then after they can sprint. Dancing fast salsa in the beginning it's a good way to pick up bad habits. Remember dance "En Dos Ladrillos".

Thank you for your comment. They are many bands out there that need to be recognized as well. Just like you, lots of people knows the commercial music. But it's more than that. Some of the bands that you mention are great, but some of them have fast songs. Plus, every person has different taste and preferable style.

Excellence thank you so much! I noticed you also danced on 2 and then on 1. You are in New York how amazing! This lesson is key to the fundamentals of Salsa. I'm in the UK myself London and teach here. Would love to come to New York Manhatton❤!

Thank you for your comment, we were dancing all the time on2. Maybe was the delay of the music when we were recording. Good catch! =) Good to hear that you are teaching in UK. You should come to NY during the Summer, best time for Salsa. Like the song " Un Verano En Nueva York"

2 is dancing on the off beat as does the conga off and on the beat.
@chrispann52742 ай бұрын
You mention you dance on the ball of foot on 2 but you also mention on 1 its the flat foot which is more grounded. It seems on 2 takes requires more effort.
@JoelSalsaNY12 күн бұрын
It's like everything. If you started dancing on 1 and now want to start dancing on 2, it will be a process to retrain your mind and body to respond to the second beat. With practice, you will be able to dominate on 2. It's about practice.

This is contratiempo on 2, not NY on 2, NY on 2 these days return to neutral position on 1&5 instead of 4&8.
@JoelSalsaNY12 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment! We also can dance landing on 1&5 as well, I will do that if I was dancing a Charanga that hits more on those beats (1&5). But for me if the accent is on the conga, I will step on those sounds. It's about the musicality and the freedom of dancing to the sounds of the instruments. Just preference!
