brilliant, thank you so much, i have a lot of awards, documents and certificates my father was awarded in his naval service over 20 years, ie, 5 good conduct certificates, 5 reinlistment, 5 of this 5 of that, overseas naval services, vietnam, korea, and 3 large ones like retirement document is larger , and only 1, then a couple smaller ones , i have his hats , 3, one beige, one white and his seamans cap in an enclosure , chest medals and ribbons he was buried with but i have a second and third set of those for my own shadowbox and my sisters shadowboxes i made for their own naval father displays in their own homes, it is me who has all dads certificates and all are not the same frame, i might just do this and replace a few cheap plastic ones i bought over the years, thank you sir, watching , one might think yours a simple task, it is not , you just make it look easy , good job
@thomasrhinow10 күн бұрын
The tricky parts are getting the miters exactly right and then gluing the individual frame parts together. Else it actually is quite easy, but time consuming. I hope you manage to give the documents and certificates the frames they deserve. Thank you!

Some great shots. I don't understand the use of a tripod, though.
@thomasrhinow16 күн бұрын
I take the liberty of copying my answer to the same question below: Various reasons. Don't have to worry about shutter speed/camera shake at minimum ISO, especially when shooting with longer lenses. For architecture it's easier to get those vertical lines straight in camera. For complex architectural situations like the "concrete maze" images in this video, where positioning is a question of centimeters if not millimeters, it helps a lot to arrange the elements exactly as I want (in "concrete maze I" the left edge of the dark block in the center was tricky to position, especially in relation to other elements like the corner of the dark lintel in the upper right part. The tripod was a blessing here). And then habit. I reckon for 50% of the images, the tripod isn't really necessary. Better don't ask me how many times I carried the tripod all day long through the snow without using it once :) And one aspect I want to add: Using a tripod helps me to slow down, gives me time to think about what I really want, to then create a suitable composition.

So that's what the Toblerone factory looks like 😁
@thomasrhinow18 күн бұрын
Haha, that would fit to keep the second best kept Swiss secret (after the Appenzeller cheese recipe) - the Toblerone ingredients - save from any unwanted access. But all things change and 1990 the brand was bought by a US company and since 2023 parts of the production moved to Slowakia, which had the effect that the brand lost its "Swissness" compliance and they're not allowed to use an image of the Matterhorn in the Logo anymore.
@iainmc985918 күн бұрын
@@thomasrhinow A chocolate company in the UK was sued by Toblerone for using the exact same Alps triangular shape. They got past the legal problem by saying the shape was inspired by the Malvern Hills in central England. They now easily outsell Toblerone by some margin, as they are half the price and twice as big. I rather imagined that building being empty apart from a Toblerone in a glass case and a Cuckoo clock on the wall - not that I'm disparaging the cultural uniqueness of Switzerland 🔺🔺🔺🔺😁

Hallo.
@thomasrhinow18 күн бұрын
Hallo.

Interesting approach, definitely a different choice than I would have chosen, the building is also very interesting in itself and the portfolio is perfect! The wall gained in value, congratulations!
@thomasrhinow18 күн бұрын
Thank you Miro! What would your choices be?
@miro_juric18 күн бұрын
@@thomasrhinow - First of all, let me say that I don't mean anything bad, the photos are really good and I would never have remembered some of them, such as the name RGB, which are the primary colors in the photo. When I wrote that I would choose differently, I meant exactly that, I would never have remembered the above and one of my choices would certainly have been to exclude the sun from the frame in the photo with the door on the left (4-5 photos in a row) if it was possible. The whole point is that I want to say that three or four of us can photograph the same thing and the photos will be different, that's exactly what I wanted to say with the fact that my choice would be different, we don't see the same things and that's the beauty of photography. I didn't mean to offend or be rude, I just wrote poorly.

This is perfect workflow! I have workshop full of tools - clampses, meters, knifes, chisels, three work desks, heavy clamps, a chest of drawers for a nails, saws, hammers, screwdrivers, elecktric saw, drillers and many, many other tools - but i started with almost nothing. And this is workflow for people I used to be. DIY videos where carpenter has fully equipped workshop for professionals is not for beginers. Thank you, sir, i am going to try your method.
@thomasrhinow22 күн бұрын
Yes, it's a method for people who don't want to (or can) spend a lot of money for tools. But what you don't pay with cash you pay with time instead - because it takes a while to build a frame using this method. I reckon you're much more efficient with your tools. Cheers

Thomas, after this video at the latest it's clear: you're a damn Iron Man! Chapeau bas for another breathtaking video - chapeau bas for your very special photographic eye and chapeau bas for your masterful physical condition! Without words and hip attitudes, with reduced background 'music' (which rather disturbs the natural situations) and concentrated on the essentials, your contributions stand out as soothing oases in the otherwise predominantly hectic actionism of self-portrayals. Please stay true to your line - thank you and best regards, Lutz

4:44 : Striking abstract composition. 5:55 : I am sure there was an amazing shot here somewhere, but I see movement was severely constrained.
@thomasrhinowАй бұрын
That's what I thought myself. The light cutting through this narrow valley dotted with crags was stunning. Unfortunately, apart from the constrained movement, the available focal lengths didn't fit well either (18mm & 100mm). I toyed with the idea of trying to get to the grassy ledge at 5:55, but was too tired to risk it.

The location is awesome, but unfortunately it became an Insta-Spot around 2 years a go - as a local told me. I didn't know and was completely unprepared for the campsite that presented itself a couple hours after I pitched my (then lonely) tent. This was the first time I experienced something like this in the Swiss Alps and I was quite shocked. This is a confirmation that I will continue to never give the exact locations of my landscape tours. Cheers
