Strength in Unity - used on an enemy after selecting targets in the fight phase, can't be used with AoC. Enemy unit gets -1 to hit if they're in engagement range of your Ravenwing, AND/OR -1 to wound if they're in engagement range of your Deathwing (if the attack strength is higher than target's toughness) I tried 😅 curious to see how your opinions on this detachment have changed post-dataslate! Is Fulgus Magna worth it if it's being given to a Termie Captain who's also giving you cheaper Inescapable Wrath?

A little late to the party here, but this was really interesting, and nice to see different takes on this detachment 👌 Now that the dataslate has dropped how do you feel about this list and detachment now? Also, would love to see your take on a Dark Angels list build with the new Librarian detachment. Seems to have som useful buffs for Hellblasters, sternguard and terminators/DWK which are my favourite units/models.

Building my first army around this detachment, are the jetfighters now viable? Do they work with the deathwing teleport thing?

Any tips to custodes players that can't afford FW units? Is it worth to save up 6 months for a calladius , that may end up in legends ?

22:10 just to clarify (and only because I had been misplaying this) defender gets to choose which unit to activate first as a series of defender>attacker>defender activations. So yeah, in a vacuum the defender activates first and if that’s the only protracted combat on the board then yes the DWK would go first, but other times they may not :)

I'm not sure if you've discussed this elsewhere, but is there something in particular that is leading you to take the predators over ballistus dreadnoughts? They're the same points and my inclination (guess!) would be that ballistus would be better at dualling most of the mid-range stuff you talk about. Is there something specific I'm missing, or do you think the predators are just straight better than the ballistusses?

in a recent game i dropped 5dwk+capt+(enhanc to return in deep) and 5 more dwk, made two charge in strong meelee units. Popped for free the overpowering exaction, opponent failed the battleshock and this helped me with the choice of who starting with, due to fight interrupt strat. Since it was free due to capt(useful since he has reroll on charge making a rerollable 7 inch charge an 82% success), i think it's a nice addition

Strength in Unity: Activate on an Adeptus Astartes Unit. That unit cannot use Armor of contempt. If an enemy unit is (also) engaged with a Ravenwing unit, said Adeptus Astartes Unit gets -1 to hit from enemy attacks. If said Adeptus Astartes Unit is in engagement range with an enemy that is also engaged with a Deathwing unit that Adeptus Astartes Unit gets -1 to wound enemy attacks.

While I don't completely disagree, I don't completely agree with the assessment on Lord of the Hunt and Fulgus Magna. Which units would be best served in the combo, I'm not entirely sure off the top of my head. That being said, the ability to have a work around for an opponent's screen (falling back through enemy lines more reliably to get deeper into your opponents territory to attack a target or flip an objective) and then to have the ability to redeploy Knights in impactful situations seems like a thought worth entertaining (plus two on the charge following a deep strike has decent odds with a reroll). Could it pan out in a way that turns heads.....don't know.....sounds like it could be the start of something though. The detachment feels like it could offer a DA detachment for Stormraven shenanigans (counts as Ravenwing). Another benefit of illuminating Fire.....the Hailstrike counts as Ravenwing......Libby led terminators could then be Sus1, -1AP, and +1 to wound into something you may want to clear out after using deepstrike. If the rumors pan out, then all the better.

Ok. So, they threw us some crumbs. There is one or two good things about this. Illuminating fire for one. But Who the hell falls back? I've never played anyone who has fallen back. GW is trying. I will give them that. But still lacking in my opinion. I believe that the DA's should be every bit as strong as the BT's. It's a crime against the emperor that they are not.

The SM Detachments in essence are the basic Codex Astartes tactical doctrines, they are the most basic way of doing battles for Space Marines, hence, they are available to ALL Space Marines. DA, BA, SW and BT are divergent and have "more" different ways of combat" because they chose not to adhere to Codex Astartes religiously. That's why those detachments should be available to us (I'm a DA player). What GW should have done is maybe a supplement or a WD article to give at least 1 more detachment for the other First Founding Chapter (and maybe the other popular ones like Charcharadons, Black Dragons etc.), maybe even revive the "Index Astartes" articles...

I think for how cheap in points they are, it may be more worth to bring 3 ATVs instead of 3 Outrider Squads

Strength in Unit - one of your units activates it (that unit cannot use AoC).. if you have both Ravenwing and Deathwing in combat of that enemy model, Ravenwing model can activate it, Deathwing model can still use AoC (as it did not activate the start itself) hope that makes sense

Both Azrael and Lazarus have the right keywords but aren’t listed as able to lead company of heroes. In casual you could maybe do it but not tournament. I’d take Lazarus if his ability was more interesting

Lazaus can't lead Company hero's

25mm bases cannot attack units the other side of a wall if deployed correctly. Mathematically not possible when you take into account the thickness of the wall.

Company heroes can only be led by codex compliant "Captains or chapter Masters"

Ezekiel is my favourite character! Him with a full squad of assault intercessors is so much fun! They buff each other. With +1 attacks, its 45 chain sword attacks, 4 thunder hammer. Reroll wound rolls of 1 or reroll wounds on an objective. Very effective into lighter infantry!

if wardes go to a once per game 5+++ with no sort of buff then the faction will be essentially dead outside of fluff them and grav tanks are the only thing keeping the faction floating in competive play and the tanks alone wolnt cut it
