Our 72 Mach 1 cigar light works with the heating element, but not for a power adapter used to provide current for a plug-in 12 volt outlet terminal, plus dual USB outlet ports. It looks like the center electrode simply is not shaped like the new power extender needs. So, I ordered a new cigar lighter socket, and figured if I had to cut, weld, or splice a socket I would rather do so on an aftermarket socket as opposed to the oem unit. Just before going to to replace the socket, on a whim I decided to see of there might be anything lurking around the corner just waiting to nite me on what should be a very simple R&R project.. Well, I stumbled on your video and took the time to watch and listen. I do not yet now if my situation will require cutting the new shell or not, but if it does at least I won't be taken by surprise. Just the comfort in knowing what to maybe expect made it worth the time to watchvand listen. Many thanks for your having shared this video. Lynda and I like to post little How-To videos on first generation Mustang repairs and diagnostics using old school methods for these vintage ponies. I appreciate it when I see other making contributions to our hobby as well. Kudos!

you just saved me 700€ for a pair of new seatbelts...I thought they should lock when I stand still like in modern cars..

Hi Alan, Thanks for the vid. I have a 79 350 also in a GMC Sierra. It's always idled rough and exhaust smells like poor combustion, It runs good for about 5 seconds on a cold start then will start coughing and slow down and stop. Any ideas? I've Rebuilt carb, new HEI, removed cat and EGR, checked timing, and replaced vac lines.

Hey there, I would recommend checking out the spark plugs, HEI, or the timing as it sounds like the engine is not burning the fuel as well. Are you using a mechanical fuel pump? Also is the carb a quadrajet? I think I had that issue too until I did a tune up changing out the sparks and other essentials. I hope you are able to get it running!

Ensure that your Distributor is hooked to vacuum on the carburetor and not connected to the canister lines/pcv.

hey, so in modern cars, when you simulate a "accident" by pulling the seatbelt really hard it locks up right away. (just by pulling hard and fast) in my 79 Trans am that i just bought the seat belt ratched does not do that. it just extends further out and does not lock. so in my imaginition my face will be hitting the steering wheel in case of an accident. is that normal for a 79 Trans Am, or should i get a new ratched?
