Excellent choice on the 40x pecan, I got the same one for my first American Hat and love it! It looks darker at night time or in a dark place like a bar or dance hall and has a real nice brown colour on a sunny warm day. I'm hoping to get a silverbelly colour and steel at some point as well.

Yes. I currently live in Eastern South Dakota, near Sioux Falls and it is the only place i've ever lived where they didn't have poisonous snakes. My children could roam the entire farm and the worst thing we had was a honeybee or a wasp.

I might have to give'em a try. But just for the import and export tax cost an arm and a leg. I get my Cowboy hat when my family comes and visit me from the States. What is the difference between beaver fur and rabbit fur? I saw a 100% rabbit fur and was curious.

Rabbit doesn't felt as tight as a beaver felt meaning it has to be thicker in order to be just as stiff, and it's not gonna hold it's shape as well. Also beaver is naturally waterproof, so the more beaver in the mix the more natural water resistance the hat gets. This is in part because while rabbits live on dry land, beavers spend most of their days in the water and thus have more oils in their fur. Also because beaver felts so densely, on a good felt with enough beaver rain will actually bead up and run off the hat as if there were waterproofing on it instead of soaking into the felt, which is really cool to watch. TLDR: Beaver felts are expensive for a reason.
